Historia
Sebastian Kennett is a self-made man-passionate, adventurous, and powerful; a master trader and international shipper; a man who'll risk everything for a profit. Jess Whitby grew up on the mean streets of the East End. Her father's a fine rogue and sometime smuggler. His canny trading and her brilliant management have built them a fortune. Then one of Sebastian's ships goes down and a traitor is to blame. All the Whitbys' money won't protect Jess's father from an accusation of treason.

Couldn’t be better
Revisado: 11-30-22
The characters are well drawn & the story is not only entertaining but plausible. Ms Bourne has an amazing way with dialogue, descriptive ¬ contrived or stilted.
Ms Potter can do just about any character & accent, both male & female, each one with it’s own distinct sound & personality. She keeps these voices throughout all of Ms Bourne’s books.
I enjoy listening to these books over & over they never get old.

One of the best!
Revisado: 06-15-21
Joanna Bourne writes the best stories. Strong believable characters & accurate historical details. Her ability to weave a fascinating story into the history of the period makes you want the book to never end. I’ve read & listened to all her books & can’t wait for the next one.
Kirsten Potter has the amazing ability to make you believe there are several actors doing the narration. Each character has a distinctive voice & accent. It is a continuing pleasure to listen to her.

The Duke of Ainswood, Vere Mallory - the last of the infamous Mallory hellions - lives a charmed life: he's rich, titled, and exceedingly handsome. And he's seemingly bent on throwing it all away in his reckless race toward self-destruction, until a devastatingly beautiful blonde amazon literally knocks him off his feet.

One of Loretta Chase Best
Revisado: 12-10-20
This is one of my favorite LC stories. It’s always nice to see what happens to the other characters in a book you like. In this one you see what happens to the Duke of Ainsworth the friend of Sabastian Ballister Marquis of Dain & Bertie Trent, Jessica’s dim brother, both from Lord of Scoundrels. The pace moves well, the characters come alive, and there aren’t any of those glaring anachronisms that make me crazy when reading a historical novel
Kate Reading is excellent!! She has the accent down & is amazing at creating different believable voices for each character. I could listen to her narratives all day.
