Historia
On a near-abandoned research base in an Arctic ice field, a skeleton crew works to ensure the centre doesn’t collapse amid treacherous storms. Officially, Trieste Grayling arrives in order to explore and film a sunken shipwreck for a documentary film; privately, she's working through a complicated grief. Trieste soon realises she's not the only one who was attracted to this intense isolation in order to escape her ghosts.

Pretty awful

I would not recommend this book. There was no point to any of it. I kept waiting for it to improve and it just got worse.

Historia
Southampton, 1912. Jessie is made from tough stuff. At just 19, after the death of her father, she opted not to follow her mother back to Ireland, preferring instead to take charge of her own destiny. When Jessie marries an Irishman and takes over the running of the cafe she works in, it seems as though all the pieces are coming together. But when destiny and a pushy local businessman have other ideas, everything she has worked for is taken away, bit by bit. Will she find the strength to keep fighting for the life she wants in the face of personal loss, gang bosses and embezzlement?

Too much happened and not enough
Revisado: 12-16-23
Love the narrator and the story was ok at first but did not care for the ending or the fact that the main character kept having tragedy after tragedy occur. It didn’t seem realistic at all

Read it for the narrator
Revisado: 04-27-21
This narrator is one of my favorites but I struggled through this book. It was repetitive and pointless and just dragged on...
