Historia
Marvellously atmospheric tale of strangers summoned to a grand but neglected villa on the Italian coast. Each of them has been named in a will, but nobody knows their benefactress.... Four very different people are named in a will. Delia, an opera singer robbed of her voice by illness; George, an idealistic scientist who cannot face what his skills have created; Marjorie, desperately poor and unable to dislodge her writer’s block; and Lucius, ostensibly in control but whose personal life is in chaos.

Excellent in every way
Revisado: 05-23-21
A great story, with well-developed characters all coming back to life following tragedies in their lives, and developing deep friendships. The mystery of how they got there is delicious! Nicolette Makenzie is a terrific narrator!

In Zanizbar, the family house is Kivulimi, the mysterious "House of Shade", where Dany and the rest of the guests learn that one of them is a desperate killer. The air of freedom and nonchalance that opened the house party fades into growing terror, as the threat of futher violence flowers in the scented air of Zanzibar.

Great fun!
Revisado: 10-03-20
A great story, enough substance to get your teeth into, but still light and with humor. Somewhat reflective of the time in which it was written- 1959- but not offensive. Bahni Turpin does a fabulous job narrating!!

Historia
In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year - a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered. Ten years later Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life...until Aiden returns.

Excellent listen
Revisado: 06-08-18
Joanne Froggatt gave a stellar performance, drawing the listener into the heartbreak and drama. There were plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments, and not a lot of time or detail was spent on the grisly subject matter, but the aftermath and the solving of the case- a good thing for me.

Worth the listen
Revisado: 10-09-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Shadow of the Moon to be better than the print version?
Yes- I tend to scan and miss things while reading.
What did you like best about this story?
The historical accuracy- the author had access to many first hand accounts- and the well-developed main characters.
What three words best describe Tara Ochs’s performance?
Bland. Stilted. Mediocre.
Who was the most memorable character of Shadow of the Moon and why?
Alex Randall. An honorable man, but one with flaws. He realizes his weaknesses and vulnerabilities. He's strong minded and unafraid to stand up to authority and take matters in his own hands (and at considerable physical danger) to himself when necessary.
Any additional comments?
The story is fantastic. The narration, not so much, but it's still well worth the listen.
