Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Chefs, Drugs and Rock & Roll transports listeners back in time to witness the remarkable evolution of the American restaurant chef in the 1970s and 1980s. Andrew Friedman goes inside Chez Panisse and other Bay Area restaurants to show how the politically charged backdrop of Berkeley helped spark this new profession; into the historically underrated community of Los Angeles chefs, including a young Wolfgang Puck; and into the clash of cultures between established French chefs in New York City and the American game changers.

An absolutely fantastic book on American chefs from the 70’s and 80’s. As a chef I find my self constantly returning to this book for inspiration.

If you’re trying to follow the series it’s worth a listen. At the same time it’s very predictable and at times I was hoping they would pick up the pace.

Historia
From 1907 to 1967, a network of reservoirs and aqueducts was built across more than one million acres in upstate New York, including Greene, Delaware, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. This feat of engineering served to meet New York City's ever-increasing need for water, sustaining its inhabitants and cementing it as a center of industry. West of the Hudson, it meant that twenty-six villages, with their farms, forest lands, orchards, and quarries, were bought for a fraction of their value, demolished, and submerged, profoundly altering ecosystems in ways we will never fully appreciate.

Overview of the reservoirs
Revisado: 11-23-22
The overall story is decent. I wish the author went into more detail about the actual destruction that took place to make the reservoirs. The narration is terrible. The mispronunciation of towns and locations makes me roll my eyes especially when he try’s to say that he lived locally for several years. The bashing of locals in the epilogue is not needed.

This is an eyewitness - and eye-opening - account of some of the most savage and brutal fighting in the war against Japan, told from the perspective of a young Texan who volunteered for the Marine Corps to escape a life as a traveling salesman. R. V. Burgin enlisted at the age of twenty and, with his sharp intelligence and earnest work ethic, climbed the ranks from a green private to a seasoned sergeant.

Okay book
Revisado: 12-31-21
I have the greatest respect for RV Burgin and what he did in the war. It saddens me to hear the way he talks about Sledge just puts him down for no reason. He pretty much won the war by him self. Wish I had my credit back to spend on another book. If you have a spare credit to spend I’d say go for it but there are better books about there based on the HBO Pacific mini series.

Revisado: 03-29-21
The story it’s self is fantastic but the narrator is absolutely utterly terrible. I almost didn’t want to finish it because of the voices he does while he’s narrating.
