This book is as good as it gets. The narration is brilliant and the story engaging and full. It paved the way for several more great books that I have now listened to multiple times.

Historia
Vivienne Michel, a precocious French Canadian raised in the United Kingdom, feels like a foreigner in every land. With only a supercharged Vespa and a handful of American dollars, she travels down winding roads into the pine forests of the Adirondacks. After stopping at the Dreamy Pines Motor Court and being coerced into caretaking at the vacant motel for the night, Viv opens the door to two armed mobsters and realizes being a woman alone is no easy task. But when a third stranger shows―a confident Englishman with a keen sense for sizing things up―the tables are turned.

Not really a Bond novel.
Revisado: 03-30-25
Most of this book is about sexual awakening of a 1965 girl. It was very difficult to read and found me fast-forwarding through the emotional details. Not at all like previous Bond books. Skip it.

I’m out…the last two are not good
Revisado: 12-27-24
This author can’t figure out that we live in a world with violent men. His stories are about this, but since the author feels the tools rather than the violent men are evil. This makes Cork foolish when handling these tools. It is very hard to relate to foolish main characters.
The performance was perfect as always. This author is the problem.

Needs research, great character development
Revisado: 11-08-24
This isn’t a bad story, and for one credit you get six books—a deal. On the other hand, it feels juvenile and lacks understanding of key elements in the story—such as the military, rank, weapons, etc. The one major fight is full of cringe such as shooting “in the legs” or “to scare” etc. Had the author spent time with military veterans who experienced action, or active law enforcement officers trained for active shooting conflict, then maybe this could have been easier to read. There are simply lots of deep subjects skimmed over for the reader to accept. I would only recommend this because of the excellent reader, the generally easy to follow feel good story, and the fact that I enjoy the genre.

Historia
Before the lights went out, Jack Warrant never considered himself a prepper. That was someone on the edge, a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday cultist who had a fatalistic view of the world. He was neither a theorist nor a cultist. He was an optimist. At least that was what he told himself when the darker thoughts creeped into his psyche as he stared at the ceiling in the middle of the night. Whenever he started down the rabbit hole, he always clawed his way back into the sunlight.

Revisado: 09-08-24
The twists here are interesting and the reading performance is excellent. The beta-male behavior of even the seemingly most assertive males makes me wonder if Tom had a co-author. I’ve not seen his other characters asking their wife for permission to take a short drive…but it happens here. This shows a strong effort to prove beta men can be good dads… though in my mind this book now seems to have an agenda. Weird. Then there is the length. At the beginning of book 1 there is an excerpt (with slight variations) of a climax that occurs in book 3. These books are incomplete. It is okay for books to take 30 hours…and if it’s a money thing, well at least double them up. I’m done after book 3. If we took out re-hash of past stuff, total book would be <5 hours. That isn’t worth a credit.
So despite this fellow being a favorite author, I can’t really recommend these unless money is no concern, and you don’t mind men that are consistently overpowered by their female relationship leader. Again, weird—ALL of the relationships are female dominated.

Beta Males and Alpha females
Revisado: 09-07-24
The story is good, but typically this author writes heroes I respect—heroes we know America needs. In this series all of the males—accept the one not married, are ruled over by their dominant, smarter, tougher, wives. The men may be military vets of grave heroism—but even that guy has a marine wife who is a mapping and sniper hard as-nails no-nonsense character. It is very hard to respect men dominated by their female partners. Turning things upside down in our world hasn’t helped—and more than any other aspect of this story, this one thing stands out. I regret it and am unsure if I can continue reading it. The main character presents powerfully, then asks his wife permission to do what must be done. Why? I wonder if this is truly the work of the stated author.

Historia
Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret - at least, that’s what she thinks.... But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well...she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth....

Great story, but hard to ignore the tween churn.
Revisado: 06-07-24
This is a good story with good world creation, concepts, magic, etc. so good I keep buying the next ones as I like THAT story; however, I HATE the constant teenage drama around who likes whom, who thought what about whom, who gets told what first, etc. I never thought the overall rating here could be lower than the story and the artist reading the story!
Why does all this teen silly churn get left in a decent story? Maybe I’m the wrong reader. I keep avoiding writing this review as bad reviews can hurt good authors, but by warning off readers who are going to hate the ongoing psychological churn of constant teen “like” drama will avoid hating on this series of books. If you read Harry Potter, that series teen love drama was about a 2-3. Here it’s a 7-8 and eats about 40% of the time. The story is very good, but it’s WAY hard to ignore this nonsense.
So if you like a good magical alternate world story, this is one, but if you are not liking teen drama, please avoid this series.

Historia
In his last mission, Conor Maguire was called back into action by his handler, Ricardo, to go after a man who helped facilitate the terror attacks that devastated America. When Ricardo next pays Conor a visit, it's at the behest of a shadowy collective of patriots determined to purge the government of those who sold out the nation. It should have been a simple mission, a short trip to "punch tickets" in the way that Conor had successfully done hundreds of times around the world. But nothing in this mission will be simple.

Wish this one had more time
Revisado: 01-13-24
These stories are enjoyable because the problems and how they are resolved make sense. Though I enjoyed 1-4 this one not so much and I’ll stop here for now. Somehow we had major personality shifts with an outbreak of stupid all around. Our Mad Mc went from smart operator to novice, Barb lost her abilities and Ragus became so befuzzled by a girl that his amazing performance in book one seems a different person altogether. Books where main characters do really stupid things are annoying. Everyone knows when the dumb kids in the stabby thriller are doing something dumb—well this whole book was like that. It is frustrating as I was enjoying the series. It’s like when a good author “teams” with another author and creates a bad book. Whoever helped out here really killed it for me. 1-4 good, 5 terrible.
