Historia
Ordered to hold an abandoned army post, John Dunbar found himself alone, beyond the edge of civilization. Thievery and survival soon forced him into the Indian camp, where he began a dangerous adventure that changed his life forever. Set in 1863, the novel follows Lieutenant John Dunbar on a magical journey from the ravages of the Civil War to the far reaches of the imperiled American frontier, a frontier he naively wants to see "before it is gone".

Much better than the film
Revisado: 10-12-21
I enjoyed the film back in the 90s but the book is quite different. Frankly it's much better. Very interesting to learn about the aboriginal Americans and their sustainable way of living before the arrival of the army, the hunters and all that entailed...

Historia
In Tools of Titans, best-selling author and podcaster and human guinea pig Tim Ferriss has published his entire notebook of high-leverage tools and advice gathered from his super-performer podcast guests (and, notably, only those things he has vetted in his own life). The book explores the dozens of personal health, wisdom, and wealth strategies and tactics Ferriss has picked up from his podcast guests and used successfully himself.

No nuggets here
Revisado: 05-12-19
I have many audiobooks and I'm sad to say that this is probably one of the worst I've read.
Normally you get something out of every book: Some little nugget of wisdom or an idea that can be used to improve your life.
This book gave me nothing. Perhaps the full version has a lot more but this is not enough to encourage me to buy it.
It has done Tim a disservice.

I don't know what the humans are so cranky about. Their enclosures are large, they ingest over 1,000 calories per day, and they're allowed to mate. Plus, they have me: an Autonomous Servile Unit, housed in a mobile/bipedal chassis. I do my job well: keep the humans healthy and happy.

Historia
The harrowing, true account from the brave men on the ground who fought back during the Battle of Benghazi. 13 Hours presents, for the first time ever, the true account of the events of September 11, 2012, when terrorists attacked the US State Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed there. Those men went beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and heroism.

Historia
At 01:23:40 on April 26th 1986, Alexander Akimov pressed the emergency shutdown button at Chernobyl's fourth nuclear reactor. It was an act that forced the permanent evacuation of a city, killed thousands, and crippled the Soviet Union. The event spawned decades of conflicting, exaggerated, and inaccurate stories.

interesting and informative
Revisado: 07-30-17
This is a comprehensive and accurate review of the worst nuclear disaster in history. Despite that he, correctly in my opinion, concludes that nucleur power is still the way forward for clean energy for then next few decades as long as the lessons from Chernobyl can be learnt.

a few good points with a lot of padding

it is a short book but it could have been a lot shorter - there is not a lot of content here. Having said that it is still worth reading because the points it makes are gold

Historia
The first book in a brand-new series, The Last Kingdom is set in England during the reign of King Alfred. Uhtred is an English boy, born into the aristocracy of ninth-century Northumbria. Orphaned at 10, he is captured and adopted by a Dane and taught the Viking ways. Yet Uhtred's fate is indissolubly bound up with Alfred, King of Wessex, who rules over the only English kingdom to survive the Danish assault. The struggle between the English and the Danes and the strife between christianity and paganism is the background to Uhtred's growing up.

In this taut, chilling audiobook, Lester Ballard - a violent, dispossessed man falsely accused of rape - haunts the hill country of East Tennessee when he is released from jail. While telling his story, Cormac McCarthy depicts the most sordid aspects of life with dignity, humor, and characteristic lyrical brilliance.

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Ended up disliking the guy
Revisado: 02-09-15
Started off interesting but by the end I really did not like him - killing without remorse or empathy and beating people up when not at war. Weak justification and egoism.
