I was attracted to this book by the word “syndrome”. I love a great syndrome.
The story was going in the right direction, but the bloody slashing was more than I could bear. Perhaps it suits a more hard hearted reader.
Narration was great, yet I still stopped listening after the chapter 15 bloodletting.

The Great Voice

Great Twist!

I love a great mystery.
Good for Dog lovers, and Agatha Christie fans alike. I would like more about the detective. She was a great character.

Tonia is Amazing!

This podcast has been one of my favorite binges. I always enjoy a story where the woman rises up and proves her amazingness!
I had a little trouble with the Bonus Episodes because the woman sounded a bit like she was speaking from a throne. (Common sense could have said the things she said.) She could be more friendly and less pedantic.
I love the story and Tonia is a pillar of womanhood.

Annoying Music!

I like Mr. Caine and his voice. The story is interesting. The repetitive and pulsing music was distracting and added nothing to the performance. It was so painful in fact,
Perhaps some subtle background soundtrack would be nice, but podcasts are about storytelling with words!
I will stop listening now and write this feedback.

Missing parts

I like the writing. The words and their usage were very good. Here’s my beef: we never hear from Jacob. He must have some story to tell.
We never know who did it. We never learn motive, which I think is the most important part of a good Murder. It’s a surprise ending, but a dismal one.
Not my favorite book.

Beautiful Unanswered Questions

We cannot look back; a sage truth. This book manages to both hold the past firmly, and freely leap into the future. I enjoyed the writing and the premise of the story. There were realistic descriptions of the house and it’s contents. That was fun. I felt cheated by the lack of closure of the Mommy problem. I wanted an excuse to form. Why did she leave her children? What mother can do so?
The re-forming of the family was hopeful and heartwarming but completely unlikely.
I’m glad I listened to the book.
