Historia
We all remember Oscar Wilde, but who speaks for Bosie? What about those 'bad gays' whose un-exemplary lives reveal more than we might expect? Too many popular histories seek to establish heroes, pioneers and martyrs but, as Huw Lemmey and Ben Miller argue, the past is filled with queer people whose sexualities and dastardly deeds have been overlooked. Based on the hugely popular podcast series, Bad Gays subverts the notion of gay icons and queer heroes and asks what we can learn about LGBTQ+ history, sexuality and identity through its villains and baddies.

Great narrator and story, awful editing
Revisado: 10-28-24
The producers of this audiobook must have been asleep on the job. The Final Cut was not properly edited. However, I enjoyed the book. I learned a lot. I liked the chapter on Hoover and Cohn possibly the most. Also, I’d let this narrator read tax codes to me. Such a soothing voice.

Irritating narration
Revisado: 09-05-24
I don’t know why they thought it was a good idea to hire a voice actor to read this audiobook. So distracting and grating I can’t even adequately review this book. The character voices on a nonfiction book about weight stigma is disturbing. Also, why does they southerner talk like Scarlet O’Hara in 1860 and a someone from Western Mass talks like they are from Southie. Just no. So much no. Do yourself a favor. Skip the audiobook and read this one on Kindle.

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

My comfort read
Revisado: 08-30-24
First time listening to the audiobook but read on kindle three other times and watched the movie more times than I can count. I will never be over these characters. I want more! I cannot explain the chokehold this story has on me.

Historia
Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball - or that Prince Charming would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother. But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty. Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight.

Book Benedict sucks
Revisado: 07-30-24
Benedict in the book series is such an arrogant numskull. He treats Sophie so poorly and get exactly what he wants.

Historia
Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except...she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her... and more. Did he think she was mad?

Phillip is insufferable and Eloise of all the siblings should have ended up with someone better
