I enjoyed a veteran and expert point of view on VC/startups. Thiel's opinions are a bit too absolute at times, but he shares an impressive collection of laws and principles, many of which are authored by him.

fun book to read. my first John grischam book. so far I prefer David Baldacci, but John brought a very nice southern flair to this story. a solid 4/5

Masterfully written and researched

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely recommend this book. Albeit slow at the beginning, this book quickly became addictive. My favorite aspect of this book is the author's masterful ability to incorporate such an adventurous tale into factually correct aspects of Shanghai's history. This history, in my opinion, hasn't been told enough by authors and historians. It was very intriguing to see the role that Asia had, and it's ability to fit into, the first concretes historical steps in the globalization of the world. I also loved the colloquialisms that the author depicts as being of those times and regions.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Struan. He is a very cunning and honorable character.

Very dense read. Not very adequate for audio

Would you consider the audio edition of Understanding the Bible to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but I would assume that print would be more adequate than audio because the subject matter and the content of this book is extremely rich and dense. I often found myself needing to go back to better understand what was said, but rewinding by 30 minutes didn't really do the job. I also had to slow down the reading speed to 0.75x the original speed.

This book contains some very deep thoughts and life guidance. It's ability to answer some core questions and doubts around the bible are very complete and does not seek to conveniently omit contradicting arguments. It is also beautifully written. I will need to reread this book to soak it in a second time around

l'histoire est plus lente et se concentre plus sur les relations des différents corps du gouvernement, journalistiques et de droit et moins sur l'action et le déroulement de nouveaux intrigues. reste dire que c'est toujours très entretenant et addictif!
