Historia
She’s got a great job at a VA Hospital, an adorable daughter, and a loving husband. Granted, it would be wonderful if her preschooler wouldn’t wake her up at three in the morning, and it would be a miracle if her husband would change the toilet paper roll once every millennium. Still, in most ways, she has the ideal life she’d always imagined. Then Jane discovers that Dr. Ryan Reilly is the VA’s newest vascular surgeon. Dr. Ryan Reilly, a.k.a. sexy surgeon, a.k.a. the biggest jerk she ever loved.

Enjoyable Listen!
Revisado: 01-07-25
I really liked both this sequel and the original title in this series! I liked the narration, the plot had just enough heft to hold my interest, the characters were decently developed, and most importantly, it was not too sappy. Overall, the plot was as expected, but there were minor twists/surprises that kept it engaging.

Not My Favorite
Revisado: 10-22-24
This novel was extremely predictable & sappy. I was disappointed in the simple characters and lack of suspense. Nora Roberts usually hooks me with her plot at one point or another, but that didn’t happen with this one. A very vanilla read in every way.

Historia
It was easy for Elizabeth. She married the man she loved, bore him two children and made a home for him which was the envy of their friends. It was harder for Ruth. She married Elizabeth’s son and then found that, somehow, she could never quite measure up. Isolation, deceit and betrayal fill the gaps between the two individual women and between their different worlds. In this complex thriller, Philippa Gregory deploys all her insight into what women want and what women fear, as Ruth confronts the shifting borders of her own sanity.

I’ve come to know & love Philippe Gregory for her historical fiction, but this was a more modern-day suspense story. I loved it! She had me engaged with the characters from start to finish.

Historia
In The Worst of You, just-wed architects Timo and Nia flee a murder scene, setting in motion a chain reaction of lies and betrayals that threaten to unravel everything they have built together. Twisted and propulsive, this thriller is told from the alternating perspectives of the couple and those close to them on Williwaw Island, each with their own motive to use the outcome of the murder case to their advantage. When a huge storm sweeps up the coast, trapping everyone on tiny Williwaw Island, it’s a race against time—and the elements — to stop the murderer from striking again.

Had Potential but Fell Flat
Revisado: 03-04-24
This novel didn’t have enough storyline to grab me. It was sort of a trip through time linked to the changing landscape of a certain corner of rural Massachusetts, but the backdrop really was the central character itself. I found some of the characters’ stories more interesting than others, but all in all I felt like the story just lacked a compelling hook & meandered all over the place without enough focus when it came to the human beings in the story. All in all I was disappointed as the concept had SO much potential.

Historia
Shots rang out in Savannah's grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares. John Berendt's sharply observed, suspenseful, and witty narrative flows like a thoroughly engrossing novel, and yet it is a work of nonfiction.

Bizarre Storyline
Revisado: 12-31-23
I applaud the author for going out of the box with this narrative, but I found it all a little far-fetched to sink into. Still, it was an entertaining listen & I look forward to reading more works by this author.
