This is one of the strongest entries in the series
Revisado: 10-23-24
The stakes are so high for the Murderbot this time. It has to save it's owner?? it's friend?? from deadly foes. As always the dialogue was wickedly funny and the action was top knotch. I know these very short novellas are exorbitantly expensive but I think this one was well worth it.

A very good installment in Mag's journey
Revisado: 09-17-24
This story started out a little confusing and scary. Once the plot got going, a lot of memorable characters were introduced. There were moments of danger, despair and humor in this one. Sometimes it dragged but mostly the action moved right along at a good speed. I liked the further development of Mag's story and I look forward to the next book.

Historia
The only favor the aliens do for Clint Beecham when they abduct him is give him a shirt that says "Do Not Eat" on it in their language. He’s told that as a physicist, he is to be reserved, along with five other scientists, for a mysterious purpose. But 50,000 other humans on board the interstellar scout ship are scheduled to be butchered and frozen, a food supply for the long journey to the alien homeworld. Clint and the other Reserves can’t stand by and let that happen.

The voices were hysterical like the story!!!!
Revisado: 04-10-24
Pros: This was definitely an original take on the First Contact meme. The aliens were crazy. The humans were delicious and this scenario was slightly plausible enough to make me squirm.
Cons: It took a minute to get going but once it started, that naked train DID NOT STOP!!!
Conclusion: Just spend the ridiculous amount of money that they are charging for THREE HOURS AND FIVE MINUTES and get this story. It is worth the cash. 50,000 stars **Smirk**

Historia
In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles (micro-robots) has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive. It has been programmed as a predator. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. Every attempt to destroy it has failed. And we are the prey.

Loved the science!!
Revisado: 06-11-22
I read this book maybe 20 years ago and I remember it fondly. That being said, the main character was one of the stupidest smart person ever written about. I wanted to scream at the MC to shut up and run. There was so much inner turmoil when it should have been "Oh, I'm about to be eaten!"
So Michael Crichton got me invested in these characters but I wanted to strangle them. Hence, I gave 4 out of 5 stars. The explanations of the technology in the book were fascinating but a bit over my head. The foreword was delightful. I highly recommend this story despite the narrator swallowing A LOT. Just make sure you bring your patience.

This is a short but sweet one. If you like military action and some high flying then this one is for you. Like I said, it's really short but it's also really good! It's a one-shot that needs no background knowledge. Very impressive!

Revisado: 01-30-21
I don't know what it is about this book but if I need a change is scenery or something to keep me company then I come back to this book. I have read or listened to this dozens of times. I start reading from different places every time. It doesn't matter. This is my go-to book! This book is funny, scary and it taught me new words and historical facts. Yes, there is a word for throwing your government officials out a window...who knew? I highly recommend this book and this performance! FIVE STARS

Historia
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Loved the voice and the story
Revisado: 06-30-19
This book lived up to all the hype! It was my first foray into John Scalzi's universe. I've branched out to his other works but this was the first. It snagged my attention and paid off in the end. I have nothing but good things to say about this novel.
The narrator did an excellent job of voicing the characters. The main protagonist is a bit of a smart a$$, but the narrator kept him likeable. Kudos for his work! Kudos all around.

Historia
My name is Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman, and I am a car mechanic. And a coyote shape-shifter. And the mate of the Alpha of the Columbia Basin werewolf pack. Even so, none of that would have gotten me into trouble if, a few months ago, I hadn’t stood upon a bridge and taken responsibility for the safety of the citizens who live in our territory. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. It should have only involved hunting down killer goblins, zombie goats, and an occasional troll. Instead, our home was viewed as neutral ground.

Good but not great
Revisado: 05-16-19
If the last book hadn't been so completely amazing, then I would have rated this book higher. I always think of Mercy as an amateur private eye. She finds a mystery and through detective work and determination, she solves the puzzle. This book left Mercy's work half done. There was no tidy ending for this one. I won't enumerate the questions (because I won't spoil the book) but I hope Ms. Briggs writes quickly. I want these mysteries to be resolved.

Well it is short
Revisado: 05-03-19
This was an in depth study of a woman who was once known around the world but has since been forgotten. The story interweaves the biographies of several well known personages like Thomas Edison and Madame Curie who knew and admired the main subject of this tale. Sadly, however famous this performer had been at the turn of the century, in this reading she seems not very interesting. Unfortunately the narrator tries to describe a vivid performance artist with just words and those words just don't do her justice. If there were visuals to go along with the story perhaps this tale would have been more engaging.
