This wouldn't have worked if it wasn't Ru reading. You can feel the emotions in his voice as he walks through his life experiences.
So much insight and reflections, and depth. A cozy fireplace night of stories.

Simple and straight forward
Revisado: 01-27-22
Listening to this book felt absolutely refreshing. Simple advice from own life experiences with examples that don't go too far but still are personal for Jay. It is his book after all.
I feel like his character was definitely maintained very well, and I loved it.
Lots of inspiration, a book can be both a look-up guide for when dealing with something yourself or just an inspiring story of someone else's life that can make you go "i can do this too".
There's nothing new in the book as such, but it's a different way of putting things together - and sometimes that's just what is needed to get the message through.
On a couple small occasions the tone became a bit monotone, but i also listen about 15-20mins at a time so it wasn't bothering me too much.
Clearly a one of a kind and very down to earth person that I'd love to meet one day.

The virus now known as Stuxnet was unlike any other piece of malware built before: Rather than simply hijacking targeted computers or stealing information from them, it proved that a piece of code could escape the digital realm and wreak actual, physical destruction—in this case, on an Iranian nuclear facility.

Great walkthrough of historic events
Revisado: 10-27-21
Loved listening to this book, 17 hours flew by. Certainly struggled to put it down at times!
Reading voice was clear, and the explanation of events felt thorough.
As with the story of stuxnet itself, it's of course hard to say how much was covered in the book and what was painted or left out. But undoubtedly we have entered a different era, and now the clock is ticking to figure out what to do.
It's amazing to think about both how similar and different cyber and kinetic powers are, and clear that both need emotional intelligence for balancing.

Historia
With more than 50,000 copies sold in Denmark, this book has been on the bestseller list since its publication in 2017. Barack Obama used a secret competitive advantage to win two elections. Companies such as Google, Amazon and Novo Nordisk use the same insight to stir up innovation, increase compliance, improve the work environment and sell more products. And successful management groups in the C20 index have started using it as their preferred strategy. But what kind of insight are we talking about here? The answer is - behavioural design.

Great, practical summary of behaviour design
Revisado: 06-01-21
First thing to get out of the way: narrator was not great, and much of Danish humor did not translate well to English. If it sounds like the narrator is obnoxious (in the sound and in the words) - Carey on, it gets better later when the book goes into actual practical things.
As for content - absolute classic. No wonder everyone talked about this book when it came out, and I've heard about it from people from so many different and unrelated backgrounds that I knew I had to check it out. Did not disappoint!
With practical insights into why humans behave the way we do, the author explores what can be done when you want to achieve a certain change in behaviour. If posters and motivational speeches worked, we all would be at the pinnacle of perfection. And since that's not the case, the author suggests a different approach to behaviour design. After all, if something doesn't work - repeating it more won't bring new results.
I found examples relatable, and definitely something I'd take into account in communications. Overall, a fun and easy to read book - just the English version of audio book could be better.

Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Interesting and thought inspiring
Revisado: 04-06-21
I definitely heard it many times, that the earlier you specialize - the better. However I've always felt that having tried as many things as I did only added up to better understanding of things, especially cross-discipline. Things I've learned in sports have helped me see how I can handle work challenges in more efficient way and vice versa.
But also things I learn in one sport contribute to other sports activities.
The book went through many different angles and perspectives of diversified learning, some of which I wouldn't have connected before for sure.
Definitely great food for thoughts!

Maybe life doesn't have a manual, but this is as close as it gets. It was great to discover all the ways we are "normal" by hearing neuroscience behind the feelings and thought patterns that everyone experiences.
The stories are very relatable, text is super well structured and easy to follow.
Will definitely get a physical book too.

Historia
The major difference between achieving people and average people is their perception of and response to failure. John C. Maxwell takes a closer look at failure - and reveals that the secret of moving beyond failure is to use it as a lesson and a stepping-stone. He covers the top reasons people fail and shows how to master fear instead of being mastered by it. Listeners will discover that positive benefits can accompany negative experiences - if you have the right attitude.

Brilliant, specific and concrete
Revisado: 08-26-20
Another great book from John Maxwell. Great layout: steps are easy to follow, stories are relevant and illustrative.
The only issue with the audio book is that the reader doesn't always make breaks between different thought blocks, which can be confusing as you aren't always sure if it's the same thought that continues or a new one.
But other than that - great, practical steps for taking control of your life. Definitely reading this again soon.

Revisado: 07-13-20
Another fantastic book from John, this time co-authored and therefore with additional perspective side.
Just like the title says, it's 25 straightforward ways to be a better people person and a better person yourself. No magic, just life practice.
My only deduction from score is that narrator doesn't make pauses when switching between logical parts of text and so things get mumbled together sometimes. It sounds as if same part or paragraph is continuing but you realize 3ish sentences in that this is a new idea going on.
Other than that - great book with some practical, down to earth advices and explanations.

Good beginner's book
Revisado: 02-12-19
Good book for someone learning to tackle procrastination for the first time in their lives. Lots of detailed explanations about what things are and are not, as well as tools to pick up and try out right away.
Book keeps things simple, which is quite helpful when you try to tackle procrastination, especially the first time.
My only issue with the book is that the tools and the story are really basic. So for anyone who have tried to look around and learn to pick themselves up before, much of the book is going to be redundant.
