His forensic genealogy career was faltering and he was refusing to accept any new cases, preferring instead to concentrate on locating his own elusive biological father. Intrigue and mystery
Revisado: 09-04-24
I love the way the author set the stage if the story. Jumping from past to present made the listener have to really commit to the story. He then began to unravel the lives of so many who were intertwined, and how in the end they impacted the lives of their family, the war, and the love they shared was very unexpected.
Truly enjoyed the story.

Peak into the mountains
Revisado: 01-02-24
This story captured you as you followed the hardships of the people who lived on the mountain. How hard life was yet they took care of each other. Many twists and turns but mostly love and how the children learned what it really was. Well done.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Unfinished due to language
Revisado: 12-29-23
I would have loved to finished this book but the language was very offensive. I made it to chapter 5 then I gave up.

Historia
When Kate wins an item at her children’s elementary school auction - an all-inclusive trip to SeaView at Sandpiper Bay - she thinks it’s just what her family needs after a decade of career disappointments and a marriage on its last legs. She has no reason to believe that said trip is a Fyre Festival-level fraud and, in fact, the catalyst to her unraveling. But it is. Oh, but it is.

Language
Revisado: 09-07-23
Sounded like a cute book but the offensive language was really bad. I like new books and love to try out new authors but the first 15-20 she used many different cuss words.
Our language is filled with many descriptive words and a great author uses them to take us out of this world to a better place.

Very depressing
Revisado: 07-13-22
This was a very depressing book. Everything goes wrong until the last few chapters of some positive.
Seems the author took the “muphys law” approach to life and then at the end tried to change it all.

Historia
Just past midnight, on February 3, just hours from their destination, the Dorchester was torpedoed and sank, throwing its passengers into the frigid waters and creating the worst single loss of an American personnel convoy during WWII. Many of the survivors credit the four chaplains with saving their lives. Those chaplains would become known as the “Immortal Chaplains” for their heroism in making the ultimate sacrifice.

Touching
Revisado: 06-22-22
This story honors the lives of 5 men who were quiet hero’s in WWII. Prepare to laugh, cry, be angry, and live the valiant men who chose humanity over orders.
It also honors those who continued on with out there beloved husbands, fathers or sons. It is to these authors who capture these heroics in the written word so they are not forgotten, but remember for the price paid so we all can be free in our country.
Well written, and well read.

Historia
When Evangeline is sent to live in a small mill town in Northern England as a schoolteacher in 1871, she finds herself struggling to fit in with an unfamiliar culture. Raised with the high-class Victorian values and ideals of a sophisticated upbringing, she is unprepared for the poverty she finds in the gritty factory town of Smeatley, where the locals speak with a hard-to-understand Yorkshire accent and struggle to thrive with few resources or opportunities. Though she has no training as a teacher, she must prove herself successful before her grandfather will release her inheritance.

Justine Eyre did a wonderful job reading this book. With Sarah Eden’s writings and Justine Eyres accents to bring it to life, I felt like I was in the book.

Historia
One of the 20th century's enduring works, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a widely beloved and acclaimed novel known throughout the world and the ultimate achievement in a Nobel Prize-winning career. The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the Buendía family. Rich and brilliant, it is a chronicle of life, death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the beautiful, ridiculous, and tawdry story of the Buendía family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America.
