Pity the author doesn’t take his own advice

I’m sure there were some excellent nuggets in this book but the repetition and poorly delivered mission to create an Essentialist movement (I’m guessing) made it hard to wade through the self-righteous noise. The important points could have been condensed into an essential few ideas & action points. In addition the author identified every ideal human behaviour from being punctual to planning ahead & living a healthy life as a sign of being the coveted ‘Essentialist’. Eugh - I wanted to get through it to hear the essential points but eventually had to concede that the sunk-cost effort didn’t outweigh the irritation.

Life changing no matter if you buy into the whole package or not. This book will make you think about how and what you do. Very well read and easy to listen too. Though as another reader mentioned, the reading of the full web addresses etc was a bit tedious

The information was not particularly fresh and the perspectives were very much related to a corporate (unpleasant) work environment. A fairly superficial look at how our primitive brain influences our behaviour. The reader had a particularly annoying style for me.

I find Gretchen's thoughts and life philosophies interesting and relevant. I thought this book was much more of her own unscientific and unproven thoughts and ideas comparing it to "The Happiness Project" which was more about testing popular science recommendations. Still she sees things in a useful and thought provoking way and I enjoyed hearing her theories (I am a questioner)
