Historia
Lethally charming Simon Blair, Marquess of Lisburne, has reluctantly returned to London for one reason only: a family obligation. Still, he might make time for the seduction of a certain redheaded dressmaker - but Leonie Noirot hasn't time for him. She's obsessed with transforming his cousin, the dowdy Lady Gladys, into a swan. Leonie's skills can coax curves - and profits - from thin air, but his criminally handsome lordship is too busy trying to seduce her to appreciate her genius. He needs to learn a lesson, and the wager she provokes ought to teach him, once and for all.

A joy like all Chase’s works
Revisado: 04-21-24
I always enjoy Ms Chase’s stories. This isn’t my upmost favorite, but it’s still better than 80% of what’s out there. The stories are always so much fun!

Historia
Hilarious, fascinating, and a roller coaster of dizzying, historical what-ifs, Napoleon's Hemorrhoids is a potpourri for serious historians and casual history buffs. In one of Phil Mason's many revelations, you'll learn that Communist jets were two minutes away from opening fire on American planes during the Cuban missile crisis, when they had to turn back as they were running out of fuel. You'll discover that before the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's painful hemorrhoids prevented him from mounting his horse to survey the battlefield.

Feel I’ve been had - AVOID
Revisado: 08-31-23
Do not be lead in by positive reviews thst must come from friends. If you get this for free, then it will matter less.
On to review of content …
Introduction goes on forever relaying all sorts of tidbits that will only be repeated later and then only barely expanded upon.
I listened to this in my car with a friend for an hour before she & I both were irritated and frustrated with the author. I later soldiered through and finished it on my own somehow hoping it would get better and then just wanting to finish as goal of reading a 100 books this year and May as well finish when doing errands.
Back to content -
Throughout the rest of the book the author repeats things covered before in prior chapters, and I’m not referring to the intro. An obvious effort to pad the perception of content therein.
Detested that this cost me a point for something that in actual content was a 1/4 to a 1/2 of its overall length due to repetitive nature.
Also a huge problem for me were a lot of huge leaps to conclusions of what would have occurred had not X occurred.
Audible - is there no quality control? You owe me a point for this miserable book.
Narrator was fine. No complaint there, as they’re just paid to read it. Hope they were paid well at least.

LOVED!
Revisado: 04-10-23
This novel is a true classic. My first time reading Pilcher’s work. I read this via Audible whenever I was driving, and there were times I got to my destination and lingered to listen longer. It’s so well written and the narration fit perfectly.
Throughout the novel there were moments I was moved to tears welling up in my eyes, as the author made such wonderful characters that you get caught up and almost forget it’s fiction. Contrasting with that the actions, words and thoughts of some characters had me giving voice to a few expletives LOL! That’s the evidence of great writing!
One of those novels you know will stay with you and that you now feel a bit at sea when done, as you know nothing will capture you quite that much for a bit!
Listen to it or read it, either way you’re in for a treat. I know I may revisit this novel and read it next time.
