Boring and stale…uninteresting group of characters…like a whodunnit by committee. Sanderson rolling out old writing…he should have paid me to listen to the two hours that I managed to stomach.

Simply boring with nothing new or interesting. It looks to me like Meyer is a one trick pony and happened to strike gold once…I remember now why I quit buying his books after the first two or three of his innovative magic series. Shame on me.

Can this book make the metaverse seem boring? Yes

Mr. Pratt takes the intriguing idea of an infinity of universes (the metaverse) and.......nothing. Ho Hum. The idea of a universe traveling man who flips to new worlds every time that he sleeps sounds interesting at the least. What we get from the author is a shallow tale with one dimensional characters. I couldn’t develop any empathy for the MC....seemed no purpose in his ramblings. The villain?.....don’t bother...portrayed as a sniveling Uncle Fester....honestly, this book comes across as a teen comic book. A waste of your time and a credit.

How can such a wild ride seem.....well, hum drum?

The first few hours were a tough slog...slow, slow, slow. After things got halfway interesting the thinness of the character development was clear...I didn’t care about any of the characters. They were all one dimensional and very hard to like. After finishing the book I was struck with how such a wild and fantastic story could seem like a meal of dry toast and thin chicken broth. This author rarely provides much more than that... of course RC Bray shines on the storytelling...simply not enough.

A lot to see and chew on here....intellectually, but I found myself wanting to quit halfway through. I couldn’t put my finger on why as the ideas were refreshing, and Kadrey can write. There just wasn’t enough to push me over from mediocre....in the end the story was small...insignificant. Nice try, but RK can do much better.
