I love my book
Revisado: 04-01-23
Writing my story and listening to it is healing. I am getting bored of it - which is my goal. The story is no longer mine. I no longer live the story - I am the story teller. I wish the same for you. The accompanying Pondering Workbook has writing prompts for deep exploration of your past, present and future. Use it to wrote Your story. Record it. Listen to it. Listen to it i til it bores you - until it is no longer yours. Then, let it go. Sat nam, Janet Howard

Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Hard truths - with beauty
Revisado: 11-12-22
Where do I start? Barbara created a rich character in Demon Copperhead with a narration starting as a child through adulthood. At first, I found myself laughing, because he was so funny. But there were more tears than laughter as I slowly digested the story that existed before he was born. The narration was amazing - wow. This book is about resilience and earned wisdom- and those that lend a hand - and those that do their best - which is often more hurtful than helpful. The book is also an education in the opioid crisis and tragedy. Janet

Honesty helping others
Revisado: 09-16-22
The first two parts, in particular, connected me with Stephanie. While our trauma is different, her challenges and feelings resonate. It was comforting to have someone feel as I do, at times. Makes one feel less alone in it. Some of the later sections, more research based- were less of what engaged me but I enjoyed the whole book and benefited from listening to it. I am releasing my own memoir of healing in 2022, which drew me to the book. Im really glad I listened to it and suggested to my therapist Thank you Stephanie.

If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

I loved the SNL part, world trade center and trying to get the job. The Donald trump part was too long for me. There were great moments and a few weaker spots.
