If you think cinema peaked with The Expendables, this is the book for you! This book is like having Conan the Barbarian tell you stories about the good ol days as some kind of bizarre bedtime story ritual desperate to avoid seeming less manly.

It is entirely possible you will gain some insight from this book if you're the sort of coward who consistently feels let down by your coworkers and subordinates and you lack the humility to always first ask "what could I have done differently?" but other than that, this is just a trite power fantasy for dorks made by a guy who has appeared in Praeger U.

Basing your view of the future on the dubious claims of Elon Musk and other would-be technocrats is a sign you shouldn't ever be taken seriously. This was a drawling pile of nonsense from an out-of-touch economist who starts by saying "Keynesian economics has been demonstrated to be wrong... but what if it's right?" and it goes downhill from there.

Good critique of academia in the social sciences but somewhat fails where the rubber meets the road. While Helen and James offer compelling criticism of the academic direction behind critical theory, they're only addressing the most extreme extents to which critical theory goes and then making the leap that it's all just cultural Marxism. I'm afraid anyone who reads this will see it as a reason to dismiss all critical theory out of hand rather than simply as a warning that the study of any social issue can always dive too deep into theory without producing anything substantive or useful.

tldr: people are going to think this book dunks on all the research behind critical theory as cultural Marxism in disguise when in reality it only addresses the fringes.

I wish this author luck in whatever avenue of life he assaults with his presence, but I hope for the sake of the literate that it isn't more printed media. Godawful writing. 1/10, and I'm being generous because it's a cool premise.
