Historia
Eudora Honeysett is done with this noisy, moronic world - all of it. She has witnessed the indignities and suffering of old age and has lived a full life. At 85, she isn’t going to leave things to chance. Her end will be on her terms. With one call to a clinic in Switzerland, a plan is set in motion. Then she meets 10-year-old Rose Trewidney, a whirling, pint-sized rainbow of sparkling cheer. All Eudora wants is to be left alone to set her affairs in order.

Sense of history and British Culture
Revisado: 04-26-25
Narrator's interpretation of the characters was outstanding. My British Mum met my Dad an American Colonel stationed in UK and France during WWII. I helped my mother die at age 89. The author's portrayal of how emotions were always shut away after surviving the Blitz is spot on. And Rose's Cindy Lauper fashion sense is just like my daughter's when she was growing up. This story is so much like my life cathartic and helpful and soothing in the end.

Historia
Kitty Roberts spends her days searching for the perfect home for two...until her boyfriend dumps her. Devastated, she flees to a tiny seaside village called Pennystrand, where she spent golden summers as a child, before her family fell apart. At first, Kitty’s dramatic escape proves to be exactly what she needs—golden sunsets over warm, sandy beaches, lovably eccentric new neighbors, and even a blush-inducing run-in with Cory Hudson, a floppy-haired local surfer with a heart-stopping smile.

Historia
Lillie Silva knew life as an empty nester would be hard after her only child left for college, but when her husband abruptly dumps her for another woman just as her son leaves, her world comes crashing down. Besides the fact that this announcement is a complete surprise (to say the least), what shocks Lillie most is that she isn't...heartbroken. She's furious. Lillie has loved her life on Cape Cod, but as a mother, wife and nurse-midwife, she's used to caring for other people...not taking care of herself.

Great narration and sense of place
Revisado: 07-18-24
I think a New Englander who loves the ocean and the woods will relate very strongly to the main character Lily especially if they know the Cape and understands the difference between a true local and the upper crust who build monstrous waterfront properties without a thought of their environmental impact which is happening all over the Northeast. Her inner dialogue got a little repetitive but the descriptive language made up for it. It is a very empowering for any woman experiencing an empty nest and what is really true in her life. Xe Sands is one of my very favorite Audible actresses/narrators.

Historia
Iris and Gabriel have just arrived home from a make-or-break holiday. But a shock awaits them. One of their closest friends, Laure, is in their house. The atmosphere quickly becomes tense as she oversteps again and again: sleeping in their bed, wearing Iris' clothes, even rearranging the furniture. Laure has walked out on her husband—and their good friend—Pierre, over his confession of an affair and a secret child. Iris and Gabriel want to be supportive of their friends, but as Laure's mood becomes increasingly unpredictable, her presence takes its toll.

Historia
After a devastating loss, Brynn Wilder escapes to Wharton, a tourist town on Lake Superior, to reset, and checks into a quaint boardinghouse. In her fellow lodgers, she finds a friendly company of strangers: the frail Alice, cared for by a married couple with a heartbreaking story of their own; LuAnn, the eccentric and lovable owner of the inn; and Dominic, an unsettlingly handsome man inked from head to toe in mesmerizing tattoos. But in this inviting refuge, a mystery begins to swirl. Alice knows things about Brynn, about all of them, that she shouldn’t.

The setting
Revisado: 05-14-24
I enjoyed the description of the inn on the shores of Lake Superior and the idea of the Redemption islands. But if you have helped a parent to die be forewarned. The author narrative of the death of the main character's mother got repetitive. Also be forewarned if a loved one has died of Alzheimers. I didn't enjoy this book nearly as much as Daughters of the Lake.

Narration and cozy descriptions
Revisado: 02-11-24
My 3rd Katie Gayle listen. Love the narration and Village details being a homesick Brit. Best of all I love hearing about the antics of Jake, Julia Bryd's (main character), Labrador who was released from a Guide Dog program as I had one too. My Lab tore up the house until he was 3. Also the mystery is good. It keeps you guessing until the end. Looking forward to the next one.

Incredible story heartbreaking and so real
Revisado: 08-30-22
Wish Esme had support from someone from somewhere but felt all too real how things like this were always swept under the rug in the upper class in earlier times. Women had no voice. We are still downtrodden but at least we can't be committed on the whims of our families.
