Historia
On Christmas Eve, DCI Mackenzie Jones is called to a shooting at a remote farmhouse. Ralph Mallender believes his father lies dead inside. When three more bodies are discovered, it's clear a festive family gathering has turned into a gruesome tragedy. At first it seems like an open and shut case: a murder suicide committed by Ralph's volatile brother Cameron. Then new evidence makes Mack suspect the man who reported the crime is in fact the perpetrator. But Mack isn't the only one with a stake in the case.

Completely enjoyed this book. I already added Atticus Priest Book 2 to my library. I hope Mac is a part of that story as well. Atticus and Mac have great chemistry. This story was a roller coaster of who could have been the killer. I love thrillers that you don't figure out who the killer is until the end. This book is a keeper.

Historia
Julia Vargas is a cop with a mission. When she's not chasing down bad guys, Julia dedicates her time to investigating the Hangman serial killer...the same unsolved case that her father, Jim Vargas, was working on when he supposedly shot and killed himself three decades before. While rumors continue to swirl around her father's death, Julia attempts to hunt down the truth. The case once again hits dangerously close, however, when a woman's bones are discovered in a historic downtown home.

Excellent thriller
Revisado: 01-03-20
I love Mary Burton's books. I have never guessed who the killer was in her books and that's one of the reasons I love her books. She keeps you interested in each of the characters in the book and the story line. I have listened to all the books in this series and enjoyed all of them. Well worth the read/listen.

Historia
Seventeen-year-old Ryn Whittaker is a Citadel: an elite, enhanced soldier specially chosen to guard a Rift, a mysterious and dangerous portal to alternate Earths scientists cannot control or close. Trained from the age of 14, Ryn can run faster, jump farther, and fight better than a Navy SEAL - which is good when you’re not sure if a laser-wielding Neanderthal or an axe-wielding Viking is trying to make it through the Rift and into your world. But the teenager’s military conditioning and education have not prepared her for the boy who crosses through.

Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 08-22-18
For me the story started out a little slow but picked up. At first I was thinking of returning the book. I'm really glad I didn't. I'm going to listen to the second book.
The story did remind me of one the futuristic movies that was popular (Hunger Games). You adults running the show while taking advantage of children but in the end the children revolt.
This was worth the read.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Revisado: 02-24-18
What did you love best about 14?
I loved the character Tim
What was one of the most memorable moments of 14?
Once they entered apartment 14 is when the action really started.
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. At first I thought this story is so slow and would people really care that they are getting free utility.
Any additional comments?
I'm very happy that I didn't give up on this book it's been one of my favorites so far. It also made reference to Lovecraft. I read Carter & Lovecraft early on and I was amazed that these two stories crossed over and they were by different authors. This was a very good read. Looking forward to reading the Fold.

Captivating
Revisado: 12-22-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. When I started listening to the book I thought "I made a mistake on this book". I started the book over, this time uninterrupted. I must say this is the best book that I have listened to. It was very well written and I loved, loved the performance. I could just imagine how each person and their demon looked. The action was great I found myself thinking how are they going to get out of this mess. All I want to know is when will the next book come out? I am hooked.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage?
when Malcom finally killed Booneville
What about Michael Sheen’s performance did you like?

When Alice finally started calling Malcom, Mel
Any additional comments?
Loved the book and I need more
