Enjoyable entry in the fidelma series
Revisado: 12-30-24
Been hooked on the fidelma series. Performance and story both quite engaging . The reader does an excellent job of voicing the various characters this particular book had a confusing similarity of characters by plot devise but the reader managed it well.

Historia
In September 1969, a fumbling, cranky old church deacon known as Sportcoat shuffles into the courtyard of the Cause Houses housing project in south Brooklyn, pulls a .38 from his pocket, and, in front of everybody, shoots the project's drug dealer at point-blank range. The reasons for this desperate burst of violence and the consequences that spring from it lie at the heart of Deacon King Kong, James McBride's funny, moving novel and his first since his National Book Award-winning The Good Lord Bird.

Let your assumptions be charmingly disrupted
Revisado: 06-23-22
The narration by leslie manville is perfection. At times i wondered how she managed to keep her pace and her character voices flawlessly sorted.
The story is an outrageous act of faith in our ‘better’ human nature. Listen to both books. Murder club/the man who died twice and exercise your smile muscles.

Historia
It’s Gamache’s first day back as head of the homicide department, a job he temporarily shares with his previous second-in-command, Jean-Guy Beauvoir. Flood waters are rising across the province. In the middle of the turmoil a father approaches Gamache, pleading for help in finding his daughter. As crisis piles upon crisis, Gamache tries to hold off the encroaching chaos, and realizes the search for Vivienne Godin should be abandoned. But with a daughter of his own, he finds himself developing a profound, and perhaps unwise, empathy for her distraught father.

Distracting voice characterization
Revisado: 09-08-21
Perhaps Bathurst thinks all North Americans are uneducated whiny valley girls…. Or his pop culture reference is 80’s teen movies… but his voice work stains the minor characters…quite out of keeping with the novel… in turn tainting plot. Good job of general narration.
