Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Noir supernatural style
Revisado: 01-10-20
I have read and enjoyed all of Stuart Jaffe’s books. This was the first audible version I have heard and having it narrated by the author was excellent! Matched exactly the tone, feeling I was getting from reading the books. Which confirmed I will definitely be coming back for more. I was excited to finally hear from Marshall as I knew he has to have a lot to tell. This is one small glimpse into his story, one case. InI the books Jaffe does an amazing job of setting the scenes, weaving in local history and painting the picture so you feel you are transported back a little in time and right there along for the ride. Hoping he narrates more of his books, will be interesting to see how that comes though in audio. Highly recommend this author!

Simply wonderful story with characters so we'll pkayed
Revisado: 03-16-19
If I had read the description of this book, taking place in 1800's in London, having tired of the time period , another Dickens world, in an British accent lulling me to sleep. I probably would have passed it by. I am so very glad I didn't miss this! The author truly does an amazing job with descriptive language that whisks you away to another time. The narration was beautiful and fit the story perfectly. Like Mave herself telling of her adventures. And who wouldn't love a friend like Allison? I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to remember their childhood dreams, especially in audio with this narrator.

Beautiful story expressed wonderfully.
Revisado: 10-04-17
For the author I loved how each character was expressed with their stories being revealed alongside of the community. Each experienced life events they held close, sharing only what was needed. You felt like they were all people you knew, in your own neighborhood. For the narrator I thoroughly enjoyed the pace, intonation, tone. I really feel I got more of the characters listening to Taylor Ann tell the story then I would have reading it. Highly recommend both author and narrator.
