The leader of this Novena has such a natural, pleasant voice I feel like I'm joining a good friend to pray. Because I'm 70+ years old, I love listening in Audible where I can adjust the speed to a wee bit slower; I can contemplate each Mystery as I pray. (Some other recorded Rosaries rush through at a breathless pace.) A new Novena begins February 14, 2023. The Novena is also available in Spanish.

This is an inspiring podcast, and worth your time.

The host, Maritza, has a very sweet and natural way of saying the prayers. She doesn't ever rush through the Rosary. Her way of speaking, combined with the beautiful background music, helps the listener think about each Mystery as we contemplate the life of the Savior.

Closer to Our Lord through His Mother Mary

I have prayed the Rosary all my life but this Novena was taught me to do so with true intent and mindfulness. I've learned to really think about each Mystery and how it applies to my life.The opening and closing prayers are inspiring and help bring me closer to Our Blessed Mother and through her, to Our Lord. Ms. Mendez' recitation is very natural and calming as she leads the Novena "family" in prayer. It's as if she is a dear friend who has stopped by to join us in our daily devotions. I'm very thankful to have found the 54 Days of Roses Novena."

Foyle's War meets The Immitation Game

Where does Mr. Churchill's Secretary rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top! This series is a more sophisticated version of the Her Royal Spyness novels, which I also love. Enough English history for any history buff in this one!

What did you like best about this story?

Lots of twist and turns and unexpected character development. Just enough "mature" language and plot lines to make the story realistic. I especial liked that problems such as the Irish troubles or the British Hitler supporters were not ignored nor glossed over.

What does Wanda McCaddon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved the reader, Wanda McCaddon. At first I thought her voice was too mature, but her reading style, her inflection, her accents, made me fall in love with her voice. I'm sorry to read that other books in the series don't use McCaddon, now that I have her characterizations in my 'head'! McCaddon gave life to each of the characters!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not about the book. However there was one or two times when McCaddon didn't get a young gravely voice exactly right, and I thought I heard just a touch of Marge Simpson in the accent.THAT made me laugh! However, I did get very emotionally involved with the characters. So much so that I'm probably hooked on the Maggie Hope series.

Congratulations to Susan Elia MacNeal for a wonderful beginning to a very enjoyable series.

What disappointed you about UFO Chronicles: Cosmic Watergate?

While I admire Stanton Friedman, and he had very thought provoking things to say, this is not an audio rendition of a book by Mr. Friedman. It seems to be a compilation of radio interview excerpts. And to add injury to insult, I believe the radio program from which these snippets were taken streams the same interviews online for free.

What could Stanton Friedman have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Stanton Friedman was the best part of this recording, but it certainly isn't a BOOK!

Have you listened to any of Stanton Friedman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Mr. Friedman is a highly respected UFOlogist, scientist, author, as well as an entertaining yet informative speaker. I'd certainly pay to listen to him narrate one of his books. This particular Audible offering certainly isn't that.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Stanton Friedman's cogent and insightful comments about a national/global coverup concerning UFOs.

Any additional comments?

Just that I'm disappointed that what I thought was going to be Friedman narrating HIS own book, or at least a research paper turned out to be a heavily edited collection of interview responses. I'll be a more discerning customer in the future.

Narrator makes a great story come alive!

If you could sum up Children of Time in three words, what would they be?

Change requires self-sacrifice

What did you like best about this story?

After Woodbury's attention to historic and cultural detail and the alternate universe elements , I enjoyed the way so many of the characters in Children of Time accepted personal change for the benefit of their family and their country. David especially.

What does Laurel Schroeder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Schroeder has hit her stride on this, the fourth Cilmeri book she's narrated. In the previous three books she made each character's personality vivid and distinct. However in Children, it seems that she is more comfortable, her narration more relaxed and confident. Perhaps she isn't trying so hard to perfectly recreate the Welsh accents or pronounce the Welsh words, which is great for my old American English ears! Whatever the reason, Schroeder's performance (again) makes 13th century Wales come alive.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I gasped once or twice at the intrigue and perfidy common to Medieval politics. Was saddened by David's reluctant acceptance of power thrust upon him. Also touched by Meg's courageous, and literal, leap of faith to save Llywelyn's life.
