It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

A great story with a behind the scenes into how President Snow became the way he is
Revisado: 01-26-24
I wasn’t sure what to expect but loved learning how Snow became the way he is in the Hunger Games trilogy. It provides so much background information that really deepens your understanding of the character of President Snow. I didn’t have any problems with the narration. He captured the essence of the character without detracting from the associated movie actor in the trilogy. Definitely worth the listen!

Story is wonderful! Narration is comical at times
Revisado: 09-26-23
I am not sure why the narrator chooses to draw out some of the words she does in the way that she does, but it detracts from the narration.
The story is great. I’d recommend listening to a sample of her reading before deciding if you want to buy it. It’s a good story if you can overcome herrrrrrrr narration quirks

In the resplendence of William the Conqueror's London court, the lovely Saxon captive, Nicholaa was forced to choose a husband from the assembled Norman nobles. She chose Royce, a baron warrior whose fierce demeanor could not conceal his chivalrous and tender heart. Resourceful, rebellious and utterly naive, Nicholaa vowed to bend Royce to her will, despite the whirlwind of feelings he aroused in her.

Narration takes away from a wonderful story - choose the paperback for the best experience
Revisado: 06-23-23
I have read this book several times. Since I have gotten older and my eyesight isn’t as great, as well as spending lots of time in the car driving lately, I thought I would listen. The narrator attempts to get it right, but her voice detracts from the mood of almost every scene. I’m sorry to say I gave it two stars being generous.
That said, the characters are likeable and the storyline is good!

Lenora Chu and her husband decided to enroll three-year-old Rainer in China's state-run public school system. The results were positive - her son quickly settled down, became fluent in Mandarin, and enjoyed his friends - but she also began to notice troubling new behaviors. Wondering what was happening behind closed classroom doors, she embarked on an exploratory journey, interviewing Chinese parents, teachers, and education professors, and following students at all stages of their education.

A childhood favorite brought to life
Revisado: 05-21-16
Having loved this story since childhood, I was very excited to share it with my daughter...the only reason I gave the performance a four star was I felt the reader struggled with certain voices. But still, I would highly recommend this book for its content and the rest of the reading, which was good.
