I loved this book. There were so many twists and turns. My only regret is that there will not be another Jane Lotter novel. Thank you, Jane, for giving the world this one.

.Useful information but it is better to have a physical book for later reference.

Set in the late '60s, this story weaves those tumultuous times with a coming of age story of four teenage boys. The author's descriptive narrative made me feel I was right there. The narrator was exceptional. I hope Bill Rivers will do a sequel. I am not ready to let go of the characters.

This novel was so drawn out. It could have been cut in half easily.

I loved this book. Having been raised in The South during the 50s and 60s, Rick Bragg took me back to days of shelling peas on the screened porch with my grandmother and great aunts, summer days laying on a blanket with my sister under the shade of a pin oak tree-the air too heavy to breathe and my mother frying up corn cakes in a cast iron skillet. I needed a break from the weight of the pandemic, social unrest and political vitriol. Thank you Rick Bragg for providing it.

A must read if you are in the culinary arts business or aspire do so. For us civilians the book is exhausting. Anthony Bourdain (God rest his soul) narrates at warp speed but he had to with so much to say. After finishing the book I don't why anyone would choose to enter the profession but am thankful many do. Bon appetit!
