Great Story!
Revisado: 05-08-24
Great Story. Excellent reader. My only complaint is his books are too short. Book 1 and 2 could have been combined. I'm a big fan of TSHTF fiction. Most of them start with "The Big Disaster" in the first few pages. This story unwinds gradually, from realizing things are going to get bad, to preparing and experiencing as it goes from bad to worse to ....... (I'm not there yet). I finished book 1 and 2 in one day. Each book ends with a cliffhanger. By far one of Bobby Akart's best novels. I highly recommend it!

Historia
America’s government was on the verge of collapse, and her geopolitical foes smelled blood. While the country was destroyed from within, China deals a final blow. It was time to bring the United States to its knees. Thrust into a world without power, complete lawlessness took over. There was no organized police force. The National Guardsmen had abandoned their posts to protect their own. Anarchy filled the void.

Great Story
Revisado: 05-08-24
I am really enjoying this series. The books are a little short, it seems this book could have been part of book 2. That is the only reason I gave 4 stars. The story is great and has an excellent reader. I like this story because it's so relevant to today's environment. I'm a big fan of TSHTF fiction. Lately it seems like everything I listen to is just like the last one. In most of the books the EMP or Nuclear attack happens (or whatever) the first page and then it goes from there. In this book, things happen gradually and not all in the first chapter. I listened to the first 2 books in one day. You will be riveted from the beginning till the end. This is by far one of Bobby Akart's best novels. I can't wait until the next book even if it is too short!

One of the best.....
Revisado: 09-06-19
This is by far one of the best books that I have listened to. Mark Goodwin is a great author and have enjoyed many of his books. This was no exception. The narrator did an excellent job. I found it very hard to stop listening. My 38 year old son actually recommended the book to me so just because it’s a female narrator it’s not a girls story. Would be a great book to listen to while traveling. It moves along at a fast pace. Definitely recommend the book. I wish there were more volumes.

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

So Good! So Impressed!
Revisado: 02-19-18
This is my first book of Jonathan Maberry (JM). Excellent story that holds your interest for its entirety. I was hesitant because it had zombies. Surprisingly I’m fine with the zombies. To me it felt real, as if it could really happen. Although JM ‘s zombies are fantasy the world it happens in is very much real. That’s why it will give you pause to think “Could this happen?”. Ray Porters narration of this book is masterful. So impressed by his performance. Recommend this book to everyone even non zombie fans.

A slight letdown.
Revisado: 01-28-18
I have been a huge fan of this series. Eating up every word of the story. It was very good and I was sorry to see it end. It had everything all of the books had. Listening to this book as did all of the books, it became very personal and characters became family. You suffered when they did and you smiled as they did. I'm not an expert on writing but I do know it's a good book when you get emotional about the story and when you can't put it down. However the problem I had with this book is it was just too much like the other books. For me the ending just happened with no build up or events leading up to it. As the book evolved I kept waiting for something exciting, special or meaningful but it just wasn't there. I think perhaps I built it up too much and was disappointed when it didn't shake my world as some endings do. I do recommend the book and series with the caveat that expectations are managed. It's a great story that will make you think. The narrator was excellent.
This audio book was given to me in exchange for a honest and timely review. I apologize for it's lateness due to illness and surgery.

If you are brand new to prepping and novels about the apocalypse you might like this book. I very much felt like I was listening to "Prepping #1", out of 100 books. To simple and to juvenile. Even the narrator sounded like he was reading to 6th graders, although he wasn't bad. I think it was more the material.

Historia
Deadly outbreaks of diseases make headlines, but not at the start. Every pandemic begins small, subtle, and in faraway places. When it arrives, it spreads across oceans and continents, like the sweep of nightfall, killing millions, or even billions. Be prepared to get very, very paranoid. A new post-apocalyptic medical thriller fiction series from author Bobby Akart.

Any additional comments?
Level 6 follows "Beginnings" and "The Innocents" from the Pandemic series by Bobby Akart. Each book has been an excellent listen and "Level 6" is no exception. The story has really grabbed me and drawn me in. I cried, laughed and cheered in different parts of the story. I feel like I’m there and part of the family with Hunter and Mac. Hunter and Mac are the main characters. They work for different federal agencies both are investigating a virus that appears to have the potential of a serious pandemic and because it is suspected that the introduction of the virus was by terrorist. Their lives are intertwined throughout the investigation and they are falling in love. While their relationship grows so does the investigation. It has become obvious to Hunter and Mac that the virus is out of control and it is time they think about their own survival. The country is in chaos and law and order is no longer. The President and the key government officials that at still living are making decisions that are shocking and will affect the entire world.
Narration is excellent and I can say now that I really like the dual narration. Both John David Ferrell and Kris Adam do a great job. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat. It tuned my stomach to realize that this scenario could happen in real life.. I said this in my last review, I believe we could be reading this storyline in the headlines of a newspaper someday. Breaking news, “Terrorist kill millions with deadly virus”. Quick get me a mask and hand sanitizer. Happy Listening.
*I was given this book to listen to so that I may give an honest review. I guarantee no one had to make me give a good review. I can't say enough about this series.

And so it begins, the virus enters on the quiet feet of The Innocents. It invades each and every one of us. But, they say, plagues are like fires. At some point, they burn themselves out. Or not. Fear and rumor can be far more dangerous than the virus itself.

Boy oh boy "The Innocents" did not let me down. When I finished "Beginnings" I couldn't wait for the next book in the series. It came out on Audible about two days later. That's an extra star for me already. This book is so exciting. Terrorists are infecting the world hoping to accomplish the final Jihad. There are parts of the story that will make the hair on your neck stand up. They disperse the virus in ways that are indefensible. Bobby Akart is spot on with the research and in the way he wrote it. "The Innocents" grabs you right from the start and won't let go. Everything about this story will linger and stay with you for a long time. The main characters are developing and becoming romantically involved by book two. Hunter works for the Department of Defense and Mac is an epidemiologist for CDC. There is conflict within our government as to how much to inform the public, which sadly is very plausible. The entire story is so credible, I don't doubt that one day we may read a newspaper headline similar to this storyline. The narration includes 2 voices. John David Farrell always does a great job. Kris Adams is the second voice and she does a good job. I have to admit that it was something to get use too, but by about the middle of book two I was ok with it. Once again by the end of this book I was spellbound and wanted to continue immediately. I watched everyday for Level 6 to be available on Audible. It's here so I will start Level 6, book three on the edge of my seat. That's all I will tell you about end of "The Innocents" Bobby Akart has done it again. It's a wonderful, exciting and very scary series that I can easily recommend for all readers. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Happy Reading!

I must confess (as others have) I am one of those that can't get enough of Pandemic and Bio Terror stories. Beginnings is well written, well researched and a sit on the edge of your seat story about a terror generated virus with the potential for disaster. You are in on the inner workings of the CDC and Homeland as they investigate and discover the early signs of a possible real worldwide pandemic. Listening to the story I kept thinking this could happen, this could really happen. The characters are likable and believable. Something different was thrown into the mix. I was thinking no worries about the narration because John David Farrell is one of may favorites. However there was a second narrator, a female, Kris Adams. I was not familiar with her and it did take me awhile, in fact into the second book but eventually I liked it and it made sense. There are a lot of facts and information thrown into the book that there may be some that think it slow at times. This only happens in the first book and I believe it is necessary for the setup of the rest of the books. Don't let that turn you off. It's a good book and book 2 is even better. So good I didn't want to stop. I wanted to go onto book 3. Great genre, check, great author, check, and a great narrator, check. With all that you can't go wrong. I recommend Beginnings.

As if Alexandra Lucas' anxiety disorder isn't enough, mysterious holograms suddenly appear from the sky, heralding the end of the world. They bring an ultimatum: Heed the warning and step through a portal-like vortex to safety, or stay and be destroyed by a comet they say is on a collision course with Earth. How's that for senior-year stress?

I loved "Consider". First the narrator did an excellent job. She was perfect for the story and performed the characters in a very believable way. The story kept me in suspense the majority of the time, right up to the very end. I could not stop listening. I felt at times the story was a little juvenile but for the most part but I felt at home with it and I am 63 years old. Generally speaking I do think "Consider" is geared for and will mostly appeal to the female audience. It has a great ending which just begs for you to read the next book. I pre-ordered the 2nd book the same day I finished "Consider". Fortunately I had to wait only 2 days. The characters are real and the story is believable. It's a very fun book to read and I definitely recommend it.
