Dragged on and on
Revisado: 08-18-24
I don’t understand all the hype about this book? If you’re used to listening to literature that resonates deeply and takes your mind away on adventures to different times and lands you will most likely be very disappointed with this book. It’s slow, so slow to get through. Rather boring and predictable.

Historia
This book is more a spy thriller than just a mystery as the exceptional Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, gets greatly involved in international intrigue and espionage. He attempts to defeat a ruthless cartel trying to dominate the world … in essence super criminals forming a cruel coalition. Poirot’s efforts include help from his closest friend, Captain Arthur Hastings, and also Inspector Japp of Scotland Yard. As we begin the tale, Hastings is just returning from a voyage at sea that he despises and is venting his displeasure as he looks forward to joining his friend.

Love Agatha Christie reads BUT…
Revisado: 12-29-23
I read the poor reviews on the impossible to listen to narration but as I’d listened to all her other available works I decided to give this a try as it’s free. I’ve struggled to let it keep playing and now about 40 mins and a few days in I am giving up. The narrator’s voice is appalling and it sounds as though the whole thing is narrated by the whiny old farm dog in the Aristocats.

Don’t listen to the great reviews…
Revisado: 10-30-23
How anyone can give The Hike a good review baffles me. Terrible, pointless book imo. I had to fight and struggle to get through this because my boss highly recommended it and I kept hoping for the best. Wish I could get my credit and the time spent listening back. Pointless, dark, and absurd. There are no redeeming qualities. Starts out interesting but soon I realized the middle is awful, the end is awful, nothing makes sense and there is no deep meaning behind the nonsense to pull it all together. Absolutely NOT funny either. Just disgusting, dark, and filthy.

This is a fantastic book! Just as good as the books in the kingsbridge trilogy. I loved seeing the growth of the town from Dringsferry into kingsbridge. The ending is fantastic and ties everything together. Overall ends on an uplifting note and shows the righteous triumph in the end and the evil get their just punishments,

Absolutely worth the credit!
Revisado: 03-17-23
This series of books is a fantastic adventure that makes me laugh and cry and feel fierce emotions throughout but all with an underlying, uplifting message. I have leaned on these audiobooks so many times while I worked and it always helps me. I couldn’t believe it when the complete chronicles of narnia series was provided for only one credit! Highly recommend! I only wish CS Lewis wrote more Narnia books so I’d never have to stop listening.
