Historia
For so many of us, our hearts and minds still feel that we are 20-something young women who can take on the world. But in our bodies, the flexibility and strength that were once taken for granted are far from how we remember them. Every day, we have to rise above the creaky joints and achy knees to earn the opportunity of moving through the world with a modicum of grace. Yet we do rise, because it’s a privilege to grow old, and every single day is a gift. Peter Pan’s mantra was “never grow up”; our collective mantra should be “never stop growing.”

Some very insightful sections interrupted by personal memories that don’t quite fit or add to understanding.

Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

I don’t need to hear all of this…
Revisado: 02-08-25
I’m totally fine with her doing whatever she wanted to do. But the retelling of it was crass.
Also, I always wondered what it would be like if an author tried to use they/them pronouns in a literary book. It doesn’t work! I kept trying to figure out if her child had a twin that had died.

Historia
The Lost Generation from Professor Michael Shelden evokes one of the most creative periods in American literature. Paris of the 1920s served as a base for such authors as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Ezra Pound, and Gertrude Stein. In these lectures, Professor Shelden details and provides fresh insight into the unending allure of the Lost Generation - and of the literary output that exerts a continuing influence nearly a century later.

Fascinating all the way through! Loved the content and narration.
The only downside was the professor’s bio at the beginning…It went on WAY too long.

Why isn’t there a track list?
Revisado: 11-13-22
I have looked everywhere online for a list of the pieces that are included in this audiobook. But none seems to exist.
