Good Read
Revisado: 08-01-22
This is an amazing story about the love a child has for her mother beyond all that's tangible in this world to far reaching corners of the afterlife we don't yet understand. Suttle twist & turns with an ending that creeps up on you & brings everything full circle. So worth a read or two.

You know it's SAD but it's more than that!
Revisado: 09-29-21
You know this is a Sad book by the title & still hope it isn't really gonna play out that way. The characters seem very real very quickly. Once you've invested in them you end up wanting to know more & at the same time wanting the story to stand still. You'll want more than the 99 days in this book. Yet some how you'll also be satisfied at the end. It's a great book with a little different spin on the typical stories you find in this genre.

Overall An Easy But Great Listen
Revisado: 05-24-21
A little slow to start, for me, I'm sure not all others would have the same opinion. Once the book picked up, characters & storyline started to develop I was hooked. I even broke my usual reading/listening habits to hear more & hear it more often. Once the main characters go to Iraq, it starts hitting on history, from the 90' to early 2000 that was personally relevant to me. I was in H.S & then a young adult with babies during a time I thought Sep 11th was the biggest tragedy ever. The worry over my kids, our future, a War, & unsure of our Governments intentions. Was so unsettling I never left home unless I absolutely had to, & was terrified every time the phone rang, the door was knocked on, or I had to open mail. This book really hit me hard when I realized that was & still is on some places an every day occurrence. In places there is no government, no law, no one to protect you let alone defend you. Still their lives go on & they're more grateful for what they have than jaded by what they've lost. This book absolutely drives home the undying strength, character, love, & devotion these characters have for each other because of the cruel, unfair, horrendous, injustices they've all endured, seen, & could be victims of at anytime. To feel the fear, the pain, & the helplessness to your core through words is something only very talented writer are capable of.

Porn-Mag for 14yr Olds B-Day Party????!!!! No Go!
Revisado: 03-18-21
This book started out a little off but okay. Within mins they're describing a scene in which an uncle, (also biological father) to a 14yr old boy. Shows up at his B-Day party of an upper class family. With a Porno Mag in a paper bag. Giving it to the 14yr old who has just bluntly & disrespectfully asked about, "How to get pussy." The Uncle states his Father gave him a Playboy at 14yr as well. It's an absolutely demoralizing view of women. That the other continues to talk about as " There's just something about a magazine" versus the internet. Pornography changes the perception of female value, imply selfish acts of male superiority, & widely contributes to unsatisfied sex lives, inability of intimacy, & more & more inappropriate & often illegal forms of sexual gratification. The younger a child is exposed & the more normalized it is. The more complicated & very confusing relationship they will have with sexuality, reality, & pornography. Not into books that set ppl up to become pedophiles at 14yr because their dad did it to them. Even including a scenario in which it was highly inappropriate & out of place to do so. Thumbs Down on this listen, have some class in 2021.

With notebooks, calendars, to-do lists, fractured pieces of the past, and her father’s support, Claire makes it through each day, hour by hour, with relative confidence. She also has a close-knit community of friends in the remote Alaskan town where she teaches guitar to the local children. It’s there, in the reminders. As determined as Claire is to regain all that’s disappeared, she’d prefer to live without some memories of her before life.

Amazing, Gripping, Couldn't stop listening!!!
Revisado: 03-06-20
This was a shockingly griping story. By the end of the first chapter. I was hooked. I went through every emotion by Chapter 3 & the story kept getting better. Things weren't easily realized until right in front of you & then it was l UK keep you should have seen it coming. This book had me clenching my teeth. Some characters I hated & felt sorry for. Others I had empathy for that I'd have never felt. If I hadn't seen things unfold from each person's perspective. Loved this book & the narrating. One man's voice gave an individual life to so many characters. Well worth the read.
