My brother tried to kill me three times, at least three times. I understand. I watched him all my life. Watched how he coped with being the only person on Adalta with no magic, the magic we call talent. Watched how he coped with being the oldest son and not the heir because he had no talent. He learned to defend himself with swords, the one in his scabbard and the one in his wit. He learned to earn the respect of his men despite his terrible handicap.

Great ending to a fun series!

I enjoyed the whole series but I think this one was my favorite. The reader was really good and the story wrapped up in a satisfying way.

Fun follow up to Adalta!

Tessa was a great addition to the Adalta world! I loved getting to know her as well as learning more about the other characters I already knew and loved (or hated). So much more of the story unfolds in this volume. I particularly liked hearing about the inner workings of the Ark ship and the politics of what is going on there. I am excited to finish the trilogy and see how it all turns out!

The combination of sci-fi and old school fantasy make this book so fun to read. As I listened, I kept dreaming of flying with Marta and Sidhari!! Sherrill Nilson and the reader Natalie Naurus brought the magic of Adalta to life. They had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to find out how Marta was going to navigate her two worlds and survive the forces building against her.
