The reviews and hype around this book scared me off at first, since I've been burned by booksta and tiktok famous books before.

But my bestie and a few trusted friends had great things to say, so I finally gave it a go! I found Piper harder to relate to than most romcom protags, as a plus size nerdy short girl. However, I really enjoyed her emotional growth and journey throughout the book! I liked the Hot and Hammered series quite a bit more, but this was a fun read, and hit all the Alexis Rose / Schitt's Creek vibes it promised.

I was craving some fall romcom novellas and this definitely gave me some variety I don't usually see. I didn't feel particularly attached to any of the characters, but it was an enjoyable read.

Fall, Magic, Danger, and Romance

I've been in love with this cover since I first set eyes on it. I've been meaning to read it since I first saw Rachel Griffin's teasers about it. And I am so glad I snagged it during a recent audible sale, because it was the PERFECT listen during my road trip.

I was absolutely swept away into the world of Iris Grey, the Pacific NW, and the magic she desperately hid from those around her. Griffin does an excellent job of making Iris easy to understand and relate to, from her initial hate for Pike to her reluctant teamwork, then compassion, and eventually painful love that puts him first. Their conversations in the woods, as he explains that annoying her seemed to be the only thing that got her out of her head and into the present moment, charmed me. Iris's struggles to accept this version of Pike were believable, complex, and heart-warming.

A friend sent me the second book in this series, so I am very much looking forward to continuing the adventure!!

Small town HGTV vibes

BOOK 1: This was a sweet and charming romcom. Brother's best friend / best friend's little sister, small town, fake dating, family owned home reno company, childhood crush, former professional athlete.

If you like seeing hotshots who are secretly insecure and have personal growth after falling in love, definitely worth the read. Characters are recurring in the rest of the series.

BOOK 2: This one was definitely my favorite of the three in this series <3

I'm super into second chance romcoms right now, so marriage on the rocks, former soldier with PTSD, 5 love languages, marriage counseling, undeniable attraction, communication issues...this has it all.

Rosie is so easy to understand, desperate to not lose herself as her marriage seems to fall apart around her. Dominic is hard working and bad at feelings, talking, and explaining his motives after a rough tour overseas. Watching him desperately try to win back the love of his life and learn how to show her he cares was a delight. Watching Rosie learn to stand up for herself and go after what she wants with the support of new friends, with or without her husband by her side, is lovely.

BOOK 3: I usually really enjoy enemies to lovers romcoms, but this one felt a bit forced. It might just be me, but this was not my favorite in the series. It was good, and the small town recurring characters were a lot of fun.

Bethany Castle is flawless and effortlessly perfect. Or so she would have the whole town believe. But deep down, she's anxious as hell and wishes she could relax just a bit. When a hot, younger stranger starts working at their family construction business and hits on her immediately, she dismisses him without a second thought. But this Texas cowboy is determined to show her there's more to him, and to her, than what's on the surface.

Family feud, TV reality show, he falls first, small town no secrets, found family.

YA fantasy magic

Holy crap. This series sucked me in and devoured me whole.

I've been in a romcom mood the last few months, but was craving a good YA fantasy that would pull me in. This did not disappoint. Book 2 brought a handful of new characters, all our favorites from book 1, and some unexpected plot twists that pleasantly surprised me.

The consequences of everyone's actions are front and center as the crew scrambles to figure out what to do, how to stop the decimation of their village, and most of all: who the rightful heir is, and how to get them on the throne. Non stop action, conflicting goals and motivations, full of nuance and layers of complication. Beautifully done.

Office Romance & Familial Wounds

If you like ENEMIES TO LOVERS, OFFICE ROMANCE, DATING THE BOSS, and PRINCE and PAUPER vibes, pick this up. But be warned - the feels are REAL.

A charming queer romcom about the hazards of falling in love, the risks we take when trusting someone with our heart, and the friends who get us through life's darkest days. Will was sweet and unapologetically himself. His loving relationship with his parents (mom and step dad) was so wholesome! The complexity of his relationship with his birth father throughout the book was heart wrenching and incredibly well-written. (as a child of a similar parent whom I have forgiven, this was particularly emotional for me).

Graham is aloof, logical, and incredibly focused on work, until Will stumbles headfirst into his life. As we slowly get to peek behind the curtain of the straight-laced and all business man set to inherit his father's publishing company, his own difficult past comes to light - I related wholeheartedly to his struggles to be the perfect child and not add to his parents burdens.

Watching Will and Graham work through each of their familial wounds and learn to help each other carry those burdens was an honor and a joy.

Charming Celebrity Romcom

A delightfully sweet, low spice romcom about the chaos that ensues after falling in love with a rockstar! I really liked Louella and Finn as MC and MMC/LI, the family and friends were lovely as well.

In the same vein as other charming celebrity inspired romcoms such as The Stand-In and the Seat Filler :) Falling for someone you know you can't have, despite your best efforts not to, and trying to figure out how you could possibly fit into their star-studded world when you're just a normal girl. I listened to the audiobook for free thanks to the author, Becky Monson, and am thankful for the gift of this charming story!

Sweet queer romcom!

Such a sweet queer romcom about opposites attracting and finding your perfect match where you least expect it. Sophie is feeling adrift after ending her engagement because he wasn't supportive of her coming out as bisexual. She takes a job somewhere new, only to find herself devastatingly attracted to the restaurant owner despite her abrasive attitude.

These two find their way to each other even though life seems determined to keep them apart. Listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it!

All the Pirate and Mermaid Vibes

Such a gorgeous and haunting story!! I really loved the mystery, the FL setting, and the way all the pieces connected. Such a quirky and original mermaid and pirate story - stands out among the many I read! Suspenseful, charming, magical, and full of heartbreak. Definitely looking forward to the next book!!

BK BORISON DOES IT AGAIN

I thought I couldn't love anyone more than Stella and Luka, but PHEW. I adored Beckett and Evie, and the cats, and the longing, and the heartbreak.

Layla and Caleb sure are the cutest thing in the world!! I love how they each want to do right by each other, at their own personal expense, and it takes them ages to overcome those insecurities before falling completely head over heels.
