I really liked the premise of the meet cute on the subway but the story seemed to drag on after the initial meeting. Beside some initial embarrassment and miscommunication, there is very little conflict in the story and almost no depth to the hero. He is shy, intelligent, rich, patient and thoughtful. He shares his feelings and expresses his interest in her almost immediately. He is almost perfect and it is hard to relate to the heroine who pretty much complains through the whole story. She creates her own drama for no reason. I had a hard time getting through it and ended up abandoning the book at about 75% in.

I liked the first book in this series but I didn't have the patience to finish this one. There was very little happening in the plot so after 10 or 11 Chapters and many, many pages of excruciatingly boring description of every outfit the main character wore and the decor of every room she walked into, I decided not to continue listening. It was like when your Aunt is trying to tell a story but keep getting distracted.

The dialogue and characters in this story are wonderful. The highlight of the Veronica Speedwell mysteries is the complex relationship between the hero and heroine. It is full of sexual tension that doesn't fizzle out with an intriguing backstory and promise for the future. The mystery is fun as always but, at it's heart, these books are a slow romance with a very clever cast. Angele Masters performed it wonderfully.

I couldn't continue past 3rd chapter. the Scottish accents were awful. Colin McClain sounded like Speedy Gonzales. the voice of the heroine was whiny valley girl style. I thought a good story might overcome these annoyances but it's not really a good story. Boy meets girl. Girl is a whiny b*^@, boy lusts after her anyway....etc.
