The narrator has a pleasant voice, easy to listen to. She does the different voices well. She could have used a tad more emotion in angry situations, just a tad too soft-spoken in some of the situations, but that’s just a minor detail, she still brought the story to life. And what a story it was!

The story itself was great, the tone pleasant, the mystery well developed. Very enjoyable!

FUN SERIES!!! And WHAT AN AMAZING NARRATOR!!!

First of all: I love the narrator! Very bubbly, young, fitting for the genre! Her narration was top-notch. The voices she had to do, of the different characters, were all very easy to understand. And with all the animals noises she had to make, it was quite the challenge, I can tell you that! She did such a good job, really amazing!

And then the stories. How FUN!!! Loved them all from the start!!! Jolene can talk with animals. I never knew cockroaches could be so funny lol. And I’m such a softie for a guy who loves his pet! In this case, the police officer who’d do anything for his dog. But the dog doesn’t like shifters… and Jolene used to be one… still is I guess, only without the ability to shift.

What an excellent series! Oh My Goodness, I loved it so so so much!!! I’m really very enthusiastic about it!!!

Such an enjoyable book!

Well written and very entertaining. The characters are so well fleshed out, developed from book 1, they’ve really become book friends. The warmth, that’s what keeps me coming back. The mystery element was well plotted, twisty and turny. Such a feel-good book! I truly felt good when I finished reading! I highly recommend it!

I liked listening to the narrator’s voice, she made the story come alive.

The narrator did a good job. She speaks clearly and puts enough emotion in her narration, which made the story come alive. And that’s what I always hope will happen when I listen to any audiobook, that it’s like a movie in my head.

Any Bruns-book is well worth your time, always. Well written, well plotted and with well developed characters that you can’t help but love. This series keeps impressing me.

Loved it from the start!

Loved the tone, loved the story! And it didn’t take me long to chuckle out loud at Mart, the ghost sidekick, Maura’s late twin brother. He likes the haunting part of being a ghost, LOL. Great story, with lots of suspenseful moments and twists and turns. And humor.

The narrator, she did really well, although I had to get used to her British accent, I’m Dutch so that’s only natural, it’s not my native language. But she did the different voices well and spoke clearly. And somehow she was completely the right fit for Maura. She did sometimes stop at the wrong moment, mid sentence, so the flow in narrating could be a bit better, but I will be listening to more books in this series!

What a great book!

I have come to really love the characters of this series. Mitzy of course, with her tough-as-nails attitude but with her big heart. Ghost-ma who remains such a favorite of mine. Pyewacket, the caracal, who plays a very important role, and whose powers are developing. I just love Pye! Silas who becomes more and more dear to me. Twiggy with her cackles. And Odell - gotta love Odell; I love no-nonsense people. Oh and I almost forgot Dad! The ex-con, which makes some people automatically suspicious. This is a great series and I am so glad I discovered it. This one would work fine as a standalone; the mystery stands on its own perfectly and the personal details are well explained (but not too long for series-readers).

In this book, the first case Mitzy has to solve is a case of cheating at bingo. Bingo? Yes, bingo! Of course there’s more, way more. A big fire next door, an evacuation - but what about Grams?! She’s tied to the bookstore! A fast-paced, breathtakingly suspenseful, surprising mystery that was clever and full of humor. Mitzy still has so much to learn - like people skills lol. I was so immersed in the story, that I actually thought about how I’d still have to shovel snow - in the book there’s a lot of snow, but here none. None! That’s how real it felt! Great book!!!

The narrator really makes this story come alive. She does the different characters brilliantly. And she’s so easy to understand too, which for me, as a non-native English speaker, is so important!

Fun, magic, mayhem. This book has it all. Love!

A cozy, witchy mystery romance. It’s not your typical murder mystery, but fans of paranormal cozy mysteries are going to love this too, I think. I know I did! A fun read!

Lex gets an assignment he doesn’t want. Witches…. ugh. But it turns out to be way more intriguing than he’d ever thought!

Amira is convinced that the handsome real estate mogul who shows up in her tea shop is under a love spell cast by her meddling great-aunts.

And then something happens and Ris is the main suspect; EVERYTHING points to her! Ris, Amira’s youngest sister. Amira won’t have that!

The narrator was good. I always have to get used to a new narrator, so yes, I did have to get used to her voice, but I got used to her very quickly. She made everything very understandable. And was pleasant to listen to. Although the male voices could have used a little more emotion. And she talked too fast for Jordan, Ally (she sounded almost angry) and Ris. But 4.5 stars on the narration!

What a joy to listen to!

It immediately starts funny! Oh how I love this lighthearted, fun style! And it sure helps having a fantastic narrator who really brings the story to life. She does the different voices crazy well and they’re still understandable. Doing sound effects that really raised the level to a very high standard and added so much to my enjoyment. But that giant spider oooh uugghhhh lol.

The conversations between Jolene and police dog Daisy continue to be so much fun!
Favorite quote: “Nothing to see here, just a woman and a dog exchanging insults.”

Highly recommend!

And with all the animals noises she had to make, it was quite the challenge, I can tell you that! She did such a good job, really amazing!

There is a sneak peek of book 2 in this series, so the book is 44 minutes shorter than I had thought. I’m only mentioning this to anyone who, like me, might be relatively new to audio books.

And then the story. How FUN!!! Loved it from the start!!! Jolene can talk with animals. I never knew cockroaches could be so funny lol. And I’m such a softie for a guy who loves his pet! In this case, the police officer who’d do anything for his dog. But the dog doesn’t like shifters… and Jolene used to be one… still is I guess, only without the ability to shift. The case: a woman falls to her death. Jolene’s help is needed as a police consultant, as the only witness is a parakeet. What follows is an unorthodox investigation, to say the least…

What an excellent book! Oh My Goodness, I loved it so so so much!!! I’m really very enthusiastic about it!!! I am so going to read/listen to more books by Ms Johnson!
