Sherlock Holmes is meant to be a brilliant but disagreeable character. These short stories are about 10% brilliant deduction, and 90% cantankerous and unpleasant exposition on the follies of man. After a while, it just gets irksome.

Adorable and hilarious... the sweet, goofy misunderstandings between the self-aware Roomba and young apprentice are so cute. Delightfully wholesome and fun!

These stories are so delightful and hilarious! The performance is excellent, the characters are fun and varied, and the endings are sweet. Very enjoyable!

Very few redeeming qualities

The heroine is really unlikeable...vain, materialistic, dumb, and disinterested in learning. The sidekicks are unsettling caricatures, and the love interest is vulgar. The heroine is supposedly a prude, but there's a gratuitous amount of sex. Plus the performance is irritating... insufficient range of voices (especially for the male characters), and a lot of awkward spaces. Finally, the heroine has a weird mixture of politics that feels forced... like the author is trying to play both sides while clearly favoring one. I got most of the way through the book, but once the heroine started arguing that Gone with the Wind is somehow flattering towards its black characters, I had to stop. The whole book is distasteful.

So much fun!

These books are so delightful! The writing is hilariously witty, and the performance is excellent. The endings are a little convoluted, but that doesn't really matter. The stories are sweetly wrapped up, and the journey is so worthwhile!

Performance was strong, stories were cute. Interesting that a baker keeps solving the crimes while simultaneously praising the acuity of the policeman boyfriend. However, very clear that the author dislikes Americans!

Fun and quirky!

Lots of fun fairy tale references, without being too juvenile. The main character is a delightful blend of virtuous and flawed. Lots of humor, and the mysteries are sufficiently complex to hold my interest. The narrator does an excellent job of varying the voices, and her male characters are believable. All around great fun!

Trite and unimaginative, with a narrator incapable of doing multiple voices. Even though it was short, I couldn't get through it... Santa's voice was cringe worthy.

So grating I couldn't finish it...

All of the characters, including the protagonist, were whiny, self-absorbed, and obnoxious. It forces you to spend time with adults who act like children. The characters are also completely forgettable... five of the seven could die without any noticeable impact. The narration was equally grating. The characters either sound hyperactive or drunk... nothing in between. Really unpleasant.
