Kirian and I were just 12 years old when I pulled him from the creek behind my house. As he looked in my direction with unseeing lavender eyes, I quickly realized our age was just about the only thing we had in common. He spoke with an accent, he had pointy ears, and he was so beautiful it made my heart ache. Oh, and he claimed to be a fae prince cursed by witches who stole his sight. I thought he was crazy from hypothermia. Turns out, he wasn’t, and for some reason he keeps coming back. But a day in my world is a year in his. Every time I see him, he’s older. Wiser. Hotter.

Just what I needed.
Revisado: 05-02-24
This reread via audiobook was everything I remembered. The narrators did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. It was just what I needed.
Kirian is the Prince of the Night Realm. When this story starts, he is just 12 years old. He is living with a curse that he received 1 year prior. Quinn is a twelve-year-old human girl who pulls the prince from a cold, rushing creek on Earth. Their story is written in first person from a dual POV.
I adored this story! It is one of my favorite reads of the year. The characters are well-developed. The plot is gripping. The description of the two worlds is detailed and complete. The heat level is high. There is humor, banter, suspense, action, and romance. The pace is perfect, and I honestly could not put this book down. The lost sleep was worth it!
The development of Kirian and Quinn’s friendship melted my heart. I loved their unconditional acceptance of each other regardless of what the world might view as flaws. I love that they spend time doing things like reading together, working on homework, and playing games. I love that Quinn helps Kirian explore her world. There is humor as they call each other out, tenderness when he comforts her on the bad days, and romance as they dance under the stars by light of fireflies to the music of crickets. They get to know each other completely and rely on each other to be there.
When they enter the Night Realm, they face danger and the possibility that Kirian’s curse is permanent. I loved the action and suspense. The world is described magnificently. I love the protective attitude Kirian displays toward Quinn. Her compassion for him, and the inhabitants of his kingdom is compelling.
There are trolls, witches, gnomes, griffins and more in this fantastical world. The prequel to the series offers a historical background for the realms. There are underlying political issues between the realms and the new generation of cursed kings are determined to solve them and bring peace. The underlying political story of the realms and the fate of the other two kings will be concluded in additional books. However, this book does deliver the HEA for Quinn and Kirian and can be read as a standalone.

A quck enjoyable listen with excellent narration
Revisado: 03-31-24
This novella is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. It is a sweet romance that was a quick listen and ended with a HEA.
Kristen has a meddling grandmother who helps her find love with Cameron, despite her not being interested in another set up. Cameron is a business man who travels extensively for work. His uncle lives in Miami and on a visit to car auction, he meets Kristen's grandmother. I loved how the two characters hit it off from the beginning. I love the chemistry they share and the fun they have together along the way.
This was a quick listen that was thoroughly enjoyable. The narrators provided a stellar performance that enhanced the story and brought it to life.

Holiday road trip x serendipity
Revisado: 12-15-23
Written in third person from an alternating dual POV, this standalone holiday novella ends in a HEA. The audiobook is well-narrated and perfectly enveloped me in this fun holiday romance.
Lucy and Eric can't help running into each other after a hook up app one night stand. Their adventure is full of serendipity, humor, steam, and a little magic. There are numerous funny moments on their road trip that allows them to actually get to know each other.
A tiny bit of angst and a lot of fun, this novella audiobook is the perfect listen during holiday baking and wrapping.

Historia
Maren Kelly and her friend Penny may be lost in the Scottish Highlands, yes. They may be caught in the blizzard of the century, sure. But despite their dire straits, Maren is going to honor her ailing mother’s wish for them to experience all the magic, mystery, and whimsy Scotland has to offer, even if she freezes to death trying. When they’re rescued by the dashing Duncan Campbell, who seems like he walked straight out of the seventeenth century, Maren is more than a wee bit bewildered.

I picked up this novella through Kindle Unlimited read & listen. I was looking for something that I could listen to while I cleaned house for the holidays and finish quickly if I finished cleaning before the audiobook ended. This was actually the perfect length for what I needed to accomplish today, and I finished the audiobook at just the right time. This holiday standalone is written in first person from Maren's POV that ends with a HEA.
Maren is an admirable character. I loved her relationship with her mother and her desire to be with her during her terminal diagnosis. I loved how accepting she is of the time travel and of the people and custom s when she finds herself in 1647. She falls fast for Duncan , and who can blame her? He is romantic, poetic, gorgeous, and a gentleman. Basically, he is all that and a laird to boot.
I really enjoyed the blending of the customs from the two time periods over the holiday. Though this is fairly clean, with only some stolen kisses and some hand holding, I did not miss the heat that is most of the books I read. I think this is partially because I listened to it and steamy scenes can sometimes be awkward to listen to as opposed to reading them. I would say the heat level of this was bout the same as a Hallmark movie-maybe a few more kisses. The author did an excellent job of keeping me guessing as to how they could possibly end up together and how they would overcome the obstacles they faced.
The narrator, Paula Nederhorst, does a fantastic job bringing the story to life. She managed to distinguish each character with a separate voice and it never felt weird when she spoke as a male character. It was also fun to hear her go back and forth from a Scottish to an American accent throughout the book. She made it seem effortless and I was completely engaged. Fun and light with a sweet HEA, I would certainly recommend this audiobook for a holiday read.

This fun novella is written in first person from Cat's POV. IT can be read as a standalone and ends as a HEA. I started this as an audiobook but ended up finishing the last few chapters as and eBook.
First, the audio narration was incredible. I believe I enjoyed the whole thing more because of the excellent narration of the Spanish/LatinX phrases in the book. As I finished the novella reading, I could easily still hear the narrator's voice in my mind.
Diego and Cat grew up as rivals but when they discover they are the only two wedding guests not under a demonic spell, they band together to save the day. Diego and Cat have hot chemistry that is impossible to ignore. As truths are revealed, they form a true friendship with added hot times. This was extremely enjoyable with lots of funny moments, irony, and innuendo. This was my first book by this author but I can guarantee it will not be my last.

Our story begins the same as any ill-fated romance. Two households, two families, two species that should never be together. These are the recipe for tragic, beautiful love, fated to end in flames. She is my doom. She is my destiny. Unavoidable, impossible to deny, and painful to ignore. They call me Bastard Prince, a half-breed unworthy of a true title. But I still have to follow the rules. Serve the Blackthorne vampire bloodline. A shifter and a vampire are forbidden to be together. But Briar is mine, and I’ll fight family and constitution to the death in order to keep her.

I read this duet as a combination of audiobook/eBook read & listen. It worked out to be about 50% audiobook, 50% reading.
Book One: Midnight Prince
Book one of the duet is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends in a cliffhanger. I did not love Lucas at the beginning of the book. Then the reader is taken back in time to see how his heart was broken. Lucas and Briar are destined but forbidden. Romeo and Juliet vibes abound as they find their way through first love, first passion, and first heartbreak. They cannot trust anyone and it seems like everyone is out for their own gain. I loved their passion and dreaded their inevitable pain of separation. I couldn't wait to move on to book two.
Book Two: Midnight Hunger
Book two is also written in first person from a dual POV and ends in a HEA. There is also a chapter from Callie's POV which I adored.
When Lucas finds Briar, he is not welcome into her life right away. They fight, banter, and torment each other. I loved how witty this part of the book was. The tension was tight and their chemistry and anger was off the charts. I love how Lucas will do anything to secure and protect his mate. It takes Briar a little while to come around, but once she does, their bond is strong and enjoyable to read. They battle their destiny to get their happy ending and I loved the plot twists that surprised me. Having not read the other books that are related to this one, I was a little lost when it came to Lucas' history with Cashell and Olivia. This was slightly frustrating, but minor overall.
The audiobook for this duet was amazing! Shane East as Lucas was perfection! Stella Hunter did a fantastic job capturing Briar and the growth of her character. Aaron Shedlock was amazing in his cameos as Cashell. Together, the cast brought this story to life in the most fantastic way with duet narration. This was a very enjoyable read & listen and I look forward to spending more time with the Blackthornes in the future.

My second read was through audiobook. I loved the book just as much the second time through and enjoyed hearing my husband's perspective as we road tripped. I thought the narrators did a fabulous job bringing the story and the characters to life. The sound balancing for the female narrator's portions could have leveled better. Some of her characters were quite loud while others were very soft. We were constantly adjusting the volume to compensate.
This standalone is not tied to any other books by this author. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA.
An island resort is the setting for the wedding of Laney’s best friend, Emma. As a bridesmaid, she is tasked with the job of keeping the bride’s brother away from the groom as they are not getting along well at the moment. Theo tries to stay out of trouble, yet it always seems to find him anyway.
I LOVED Theo. He has such a positive outlook despite the negative things that go on around him. I love how he works with his self-talk. I adore his feelings for Laney. Laney is at a turning point in her life. I appreciated that she is finding herself and that Theo helps her do that. Her character experiences so much growth and becomes stronger throughout this book. Theo has a lot to do with that. Her feelings for Theo have even more to do with that. They have some steamy moments that are explicit, yet this book is really all about the feelings they each have.
Though there are certainly funny moments, and even moments that are little crazy, this book reads differently that the author’s other books (and I have read them all at least once). There are deeper layers to this story. There are layers of friendship, the history of growing up together in a small town where nothing is a secret, and some secrets that have been kept. (Until they are not.) A large piece of both MCs growth revolves around meeting or breaking the expectations set for them by those around them. Laney’s relationship with her parents is complex at the beginning, yet only becomes more layered and complex by the end of the book. Theo has built a successful life with a side hustle that defies general approval on the surface despite being a very good thing overall. As a result, his side hustle is a secret only known by a few at the beginning.
Secrets, small town nosiness, love, friendship, and one-bed forced proximity make this book a read you won’t want to miss. Blame the author when you fall for Theo. He is impossible to resist.

I did a reread via audiobook. The series has ben renamed the Disaster in Love series. Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter are perfection in bringing this book to life. The layers of angst and depth to the characters that they add made it an incredible listen. The story was just as vivid and memorable as I remembered. I had forgotten how much RJ's mom annoyed me the first time around. Luckily, she is dealt with appropriately, even if not as quickly as I would have liked.
Original Review:
This is book two in the AnyDayNow series and can be read as a standalone. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. I read the short story version of this in the Night With A Rockstar Anthology. I wanted more, and I was so excited when I learned it would become a full length book. This is my first full length book by this author and I am dying to read more.
RJ and Dani have an adversarial relationship as next-door neighbors until an earthquake traps them together. The event changes both of them. Ultimately they must depend on each other for survival and recovery to move past the tragedy they live through. This is a story of how events change us. It is about how we can grow and move forward after witnessing horror. It is a tale of survival. It is all about finding the right person at what seems like the worst time. It is about bonding together and helping each other be better people and making a difference in the world around us.
This book blew me away. There is so much emotion! The author does a fantastic job conveying everything the characters are going through. I have a bit of a book hangover today. I am still at a loss for words, but here is what is going through my mind: "Wow." "I think I may need to read this again, it was so good." "I am stunned by the beauty of this story and the message of living your life well."
The characters are likable and felt real. RJ is initially struggling and the experience helps him grow dramatically. Dani is tough, brave, determined, and a wonderful heroine. The writing is exquisite and descriptive in a way I cannot express. The setting is dark and terrifying. I can tell already this will be one of my top reads this year. Don't miss this one.

I listened to this book on audio. The story itself can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
Colton and Marina meet in the middle of a storm. He recognizes her as his fated mate immediately. She is just looking for a good time and she finds it with Colton. They end up with a hot steamy night together. The next time they meet Colton realizes that marina is the younger sister of his brother's new bride-to-be.
This was a hot fated mates read. I loved how protective and OTT Colton is. Marina has to figure out where her boundaries are and what she wants her future to look like before she can be all in with Colton. Hot and steamy, this was an enjoyable story.
The audiobook, narrated by Kylie Stewart was good but not excellent. I would give it 3 stars. I really missed having dual narration because this is just the single narrator. I really like this series, but I am not sure if I will continue with the audiobook versions to read them.

Book two of this series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in third person from multiple POV.
I listened to this audiobook on my way to Readers Take Denver 2023. I was in the car alone, so it didn't matter how dirty the audio got. Callie first meets Nathan and Zane when she is 25. They share a hot, hot weekend together before Zane and Nathan leave to go deep undercover for the next several years. Six years later, they have all experienced things in life that have changed them. When Nate shows up in Bliss as the new Sheriff he is bitter, sad, and scarred. Zane has been broken, mentally and physically and he feels he has nothing left to give anyone. Callie has experienced loss and is trying to determine where and how her future should be.
The audio was a wonderful way to read this book. I was captivated by the story of loss and then love reunited. I really appreciated the friendship and bond between Nate and Zane. There are some funny moments regarding how close they are, but they are really all about taking care of Callie. Callie has to learn to trust her men. She has to be able to take the risk of having her heart broken again. Like many books in this series, Callie is a strong heroine. She is tough and direct and doesn't hesitate to put the men in their place when they need it. At the same time, she is happy to submit to the alpha heroes in the bedroom. The men each have their own journey. Nate has to come to a realization that his ambition and what he thought he wanted for a future may not still hold true. Zane allows himself to embrace the quirky town and its inhabitants in the hopes of a future he wants to give Callie. This is a beautiful story and I adore it.
