Historia
When a fortuneteller’s tent appears in the market square of the city of Baltese, orphan Peter Augustus Duchene knows the questions that he needs to ask: Does his sister still live? And if so, how can he find her? The fortuneteller’s mysterious answer (An elephant! An elephant will lead him there!) sets off a chain of events so remarkable, so impossible, that Peter can hardly dare to believe it. But it is - all of it - true.

Historia
Thoreau's classic account of the solitary life, describing his attempts to simplify his life and sort out his priorities by living alone in a cabin beside Walden Pond for nearly two years, is one of the most influential books ever written. The bible of the environmental movement, Walden vividly portrays Thoreau's reverence for nature, and his understanding of the idea that nature is made up of crucially interrelated parts.

Half enjoyable
Revisado: 03-29-20
I found the first half of this book boring as heck. Thoreau goes into great detail about how much everything costs to set up a forest home and how everyone should live as simply as him. I’m a fan of simple living, but he’d often wax poetical about how marvelous it was to be free of the need for coffee, sugar, and meat he didn’t catch, as well as the abundance of free fuels to be found in the forest. The second half of the book was spent far less atop his soapbox and I truly enjoyed all the descriptions of actual life in the woods.

Historical
Revisado: 09-04-19
This is a book I have always wanted to have read in the past, but I’ve never enjoyed it once I started. If you into it with a Shakespearean tragedy in mind, it might help. This round was attempted and finally finished with the help of an excellent audio reading, but I still didn’t love it. From the antiquated use of savage to the brutal war scenes, it just wasn’t a book for me, beautifully written though it may be.

Historia
Andrew Smart wants you to sit and do nothing much more often - and he has the science to explain why. At every turn we’re pushed to do more, faster, and more efficiently: That drumbeat resounds throughout our wage-slave society. Multitasking is not only a virtue, it’s a necessity. But Andrew Smart argues that slackers may have the last laugh. The latest neuroscience shows that the “culture of effectiveness” is not only ineffective, it can be harmful to your well-being.

Interesting science punctuated by hyperbole
Revisado: 12-22-15
While I found the neuroscience fascinating the author fell into hyperbole of the worst sort for what I'd hoped to be a purely scientific look at the brain's workings. As the book progressed the author's political and social leanings became the focus instead of the brain. I'd still recommend it, as long as one is aware that it all starts to devolve at the end.

Hilarious
Revisado: 10-18-11
My boys have borrowed this audio from the library three times and it is just as funny every time. If you have kids who love adventure and silliness, this is the book for you. Jasper Dash and his friends, Lily and Katie, head off to help the monks that live on the mysterious mountain tops in the state of... Delaware. It is a land of spicy air, monks that fly and is ruled by an awful and adorable autarch.
We have listened to the earlier books and didn't like them nearly as much, although the sequel to this one is pretty good as well. Highly recommended as long as you bring your funny bone along.

Excellent book - poor quality
Revisado: 06-23-10
I have loved this book since I was a child and was excited about listening too it with my children. Since this was recorded this year I thought the quality wouldn't be an issue, but it was. It had the mid-range rattle of a poorly recorded book. Very disappointed as my boys will not listen to it because it hurts their ears.
