Historia
In Gerrardsville, Colorado, a woman dies under the wheels of a moving bus. The death is ruled a suicide. But Jack Reacher saw what really happened: A man in a gray hoodie and jeans, moving stealthily, pushed the victim to her demise—before swiftly grabbing the dead woman’s purse and strolling away.

It’s been a good run
Revisado: 06-01-23
This will be my last Jack Reacher book. When the series began Reacher was much more of a reluctant hero. Now it’s as if he is roaming the countryside looking for someone to beat on. This book was entertaining but rather unbelievable (especially the logistics of opening the prison door, give me a break). The entire book just seemed lazy, the characters were strange and so underwhelming. This was not a good book. I would not recommend it to a Jack Reacher fan.

Revisado: 03-31-22
I enjoyed this story right up to the last 45 minutes of the listen. The storyline was good. The narrator did a very good job. Her accents were not ridiculous as many narrators are. The struggles of the characters were solid and kept me interested. The struggles of the children were a little difficult to listen to at times but that’s because I love kids and it mad me so angry. Human trafficking is real and all around us. This book is a reminder to “if you see something, say something”. Now, for the negative. Spoiler Alert: When the child was seen tied up in the truck and a gun was pulled on the trucker and NOTHING was done! Sorry, just don’t buy it. And then this lady who has the presence of mind to notice a light out instead of calling the police or FBI instead arms herself with a compound bow and is able to carry it in such a way that no one sees it!? Sorry, it seems as if the author was trying to discover the most unbelievable way for our hero to save the day. It just seemed a little forced to me. Almost as if the author was searching for a way to wrap this thing up.
Overall, I am glad I listened to this book. I would recommend it. Believe me, with over 500 books in my library, there are much worse out there.

Historia
The nearly half-million American air crewmen who served during World War II have almost disappeared. And so have their stories. Award-winning writer and former fighter pilot Jay A. Stout uses Unsung Eagles to save an exciting collection of those accounts from oblivion. These are not rehashed tales from the hoary icons of the war. Rather, they are stories from the masses of largely unrecognized men who - in the aggregate - actually won it.

Appropriately I finished this book on Veterans Day. As an American we should never forget the sacrifices made by so many to fight a this war. Thank you to every veteran. Thank you for collecting these stories before they are lost forever.

A happy accident
Revisado: 11-09-21
I accidentally purchased this title but I am certainly glad I did. First, what a surprise to get two titles for the price of one and both of such great quality. The stories never dragged, never felt the lull which is sometimes felt in courtroom titles. The author did a great job with making you feel the struggle and helpless feeling of the character. I recommend this title and I am happy about my accidental purchase.

Historia
The Battle of New Orleans sets its scenes with an almost unbelievably colorful cast of characters - a happenstance coalition of militia-men, regulars, untrained frontiersmen, free blacks, Indians, townspeople, and of course, Jackson himself. His glorious, improbable victory will catapult a once-poor, uneducated orphan boy into the White House and forge the beginning of a true nation.

Something strange with the sound.
Revisado: 08-22-21
Not sure if it is the reader’s cadence or the recording but it seemed to “pulse” which became more noticeable as the reading went on. Not terribly distracting, just noticeable.

Profanity?
Revisado: 07-01-21
There is a review that this book contains profanity? It is NOT true. It could have been a book filled with profanity but it was not. Was this the best book in this category? Not by a long shot, but it was also a book I wouldn’t be ashamed or embarrassed to listen to with my older kids nearby. The lead characters are Christian, if that is offends you then you may want to pass on this book. It definitely would rate a PG on my scale.

I kept waiting for something to happen, anything. This was one of the most boring storylines I have experienced in some time. The main characters were not likable or intriguing. Sorry, not a winner.

Not a very good book
Revisado: 10-16-18
This book is not very good. First of all, the story is not very interesting. Secondly, the characters were boring and not very likable. I just wanted it to be over. To include this in the Scott Harvath series is a real stretch. He makes a few appearances but has no impact.
It’s just not a good book. Sorry Brad Thor, you missed the mark with this one.

Historia
Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes - obscure Bible verses, odd symbols - have the police stumped. Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex's sister and her family. It's a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has been there only a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.

If you could sum up The Fallen in three words, what would they be?
If I could sum up The Fallen in three words they would be, Twists, Enjoyable, Worthwhile
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I enjoyed the ending. It put me in mind of some of the old 80's detective shows where the detective had to wrap everything up for everyone. I can't say that anything shocked me about the ending, I didn't think "Wow, I didn't see that one coming."
What about Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy ’s performance did you like?
I enjoy their performances. I enjoy having male characters performed by males and female characters performed by a female reader. Not trying to be sexist it's just a preference.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I really liked and was moved by the interaction between Decker and Zoe on the stairs. Since this is my 3rd Decker title I really could sense a growth of the character in this moment.
Any additional comments?
Since this is my 20th Baldacci title in my library I am an obvious fan. I liked this book although it has not been my favorite. It is worth the time investment and I would recommend it.
