A good coming of age story with commensurate melodrama with out not an excessive amount.
As the prophet says: "if you ain't what you is , you is what you ain't."

I am amazed at the arrogance displayed by the narrator for changing the pronunciation of key places and characters, establish by multiple previous narrations. If the publisher asked the narrator to "follow his own path" the publisher should be taken to task.
I have seen other series rerelease with the original narrator after this type of folly. I for one would gladly spend a credit to buy the replacement and avoid listening to this monstrosity again. I'm sure I will relisten to this series multiple times.

This story reminded me of something like The Orient Express.
It is a who-done-it not about a murder but about a plane crash.
It is about a man who discovers his strength and he finds that strength comes from his love for his little girl.
The narrator does a good job. He's effective but not intrusive. His performance doesn't take away from the story in a bad way or a good way and that might be the greatest compliment of all.
Enjoy!

this was a fun coming of age story in a science fiction exploring space setting. with plenty of interesting thought-provoking ideas and a couple of unusual twist of the plot line. not super deep not super spectacular but a fun listen.

Would you listen to Solomon's Song again? Why?

I just finished the three books in the Australia Triology, for a second listen. The characters are great. At times great, other times a little melocholy.I love Humphrey Bower's narration.

What did you like best about this story?

My most insightful is part is the Gippoli section.

Have you listened to any of Humphrey Bower’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to more than a dozend Humphrey Bower narrations. This one is equal to his best.
I think my favorite Humphry Bower narration is a section of Shantaram, the section with Provaka.

Who was the most memorable character of Solomon's Song and why?

Hawk is my favorite.

Any additional comments?

I recommend you listen in order, The Potato Factory, Tommo and Hawk, and Solomon's Song. But one could read this one alone. My other favorite author about Australia is Nevel Shute. A Town like Alice is great.

South Western US Spanish - Finally

If you began your Spanish quest with Rapid Spanish, by Ear Worms, you will be disappointed because it is more Castilian, or continental Spanish, like spoken in Spain. Compared to Mexico or Latin America it is like talking Spanish with a lisp.

This program may not provide all the tools you will need to become fluent in Spanish, but combine with other lexical Spanish programs like Michel Thomas's program you will be headed in the right direction. (Hopefully Audible will add more than just the introduction of his great program.)

Words learned orally will be much more likely to be correctly pronounced. So, starting with this program and supplementing it with another should allow you to be understood, and sound less like a gringo.

This is more like learning to play music by ear, starting with imitation, not music theory.
