Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Loved this story and recognize some people within his character.
Revisado: 12-09-20
Really fun and poignant story about a character that sounds very familiar if you know anybody that grew up in the 50s and 60s and likes machines. Great character analysis. Enjoyable escape from anxiety provoking world that we live in.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Surprisingly insightful and profound while fun to listen
Revisado: 11-09-17
I decided to listen to this audiobook because I have listened to many deep stories and needed something a bit lighter. I found that it wasn’t light at all in content though. A real joy to listen to his stories, life lessons and analysis of life’s priorities. While some of the concepts are a bit naïve and life lessons learned almost entirely from the authors own failures, narrow as they may be, his worldview is refreshing and enlightening. He has a great way of explaining why our priorities and entitlements often lead us to feel unhappy and ultimately need to shift to be going to Godar’s and ourselves. This is not a how-to self-help book but definitely one of enlightenment. I will be buying this for a few other people as gifts.
As for the language, I think it lightens things up a bit and makes it more enjoyable to listen. His perspective is different from mine because of our different life experiences and people with whom we choose to associate but his concepts still cut across cultural barriers.

Historia
In the city of Bogot, Antonio Yammara reads an article about a hippo that had escaped from a derelict zoo once owned by legendary Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. The article transports Antonio back to when the war between Escobar’s Medelln cartel and government forces played out violently in Colombia’s streets and in the skies above. Back then, Antonio witnessed a friend’s murder, an event that haunts him still. As he investigates, he discovers the many ways in which his own life and his friend’s family have been shaped by his country’s recent violent past.

Beautiful descriptions, slow moving story. Important themes about recent history in Colombia
Revisado: 09-21-17
I enjoyed this audiobook very much. My interest is in deciding to live in Colombia for a year and wanting to read a bit of historic fiction. The story is beautiful but it moves quite slowly. I enjoyed the characters, the slow revealing information, Took me quite a few months to complete as I kept on taking long pauses, needing to rewind and listen again to get caught up. The narrators voice is very deep and soothing. I was a bit disappointed that the pronunciations of Spanish words were very far off though. It would not be hard to teach a narrator how to pronounce major cities in Colombia and it would be less awkward. Bogotá and Medellin are not hard to pronounce. Some of the pronunciations almost seemed mechanical, like the name of the university whose acronym was used many times. I am still quite happy about this audiobook but disappointed in the editors for this oversight.

Pleasantly surprised. Great inspiring story
Revisado: 03-11-17
I really knew nothing of this before listening other than the title. I had heard of this and it got good reviews so I decided to give it a try and had trouble stopping it. What a great inspiring and deep story about a boy who seeks the proverbial treasure in life. It's a great example of how the journey is the most important part of the path of life. Fun story that I would listen to you again for sure!

I am a conversationally fluent MD. This is at a pretty low introductory level. I didn't realize that when I bought it. Nevertheless, well done.

Historia
In his landmark best seller The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell redefined how we understand the world around us. Now, in Blink, he revolutionizes the way we understand the world within. Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant, in the blink of an eye, that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept?

Outstanding book.
Revisado: 06-28-12
I read a number of negative reviews of this book, but I think many of them have misunderstood the meaning of the book. That is easy to do as it doesn't flow in a clear manner. However, the premise is fairly simple, that there is a subconscious moment that has a lot of information about how we think that influences our actions. All of his ideas relate to that. I think he did a great job with that simple premise. Wanting more out of the book is naive. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
