Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

A great edition to the series. I loved the story and am really beginning to worry that some of these beloved characters aren’t going to make it …

Historia
Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the "Transition". Now, eating human meat - "special meat" - is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

This is. A popular recommendation in the extreme horror literature world, but honestly it was mid. There are far too many sentences that start with he was or he said, it wouldn’t hurt them to crack at thesaurus. And honestly, all in all it just wasn’t that great of a story. I think it suffered from being maybe about half as long as it should be. And I know that’s a weird thing to say like I didn’t like it so it should be longer, but I really do think that’s the problem is that it’s just too short it doesn’t spend enough time developing anything

Historia
In a Tokyo suburb, a young man named Toru Okada searches for his wife’s missing cat—and then for his wife as well—in a netherworld beneath the city’s placid surface. As these searches intersect, he encounters a bizarre group of allies and antagonists. Gripping, prophetic, and suffused with comedy and menace, this is one of Haruki Murakami’s most acclaimed and beloved novels.

Not for me
Revisado: 09-06-24
This is the third Japanese translated book I’ve read over the last year, and I feel like I missing something. Either a great deal is just lost in translating one language to the next or I just don’t have the cultural queues to make these work OR they are all just poor examples of lit regardless or culture or language. I chose to believe it is the former as represented by the many people that do actually enjoy this work.

The new novel - a book that sold more than a million copies the first week it went on sale in Japan - from the internationally acclaimed author, his first since IQ84. Here he gives us the remarkable story of Tsukuru Tazaki, a young man haunted by a great loss; of dreams and nightmares that have unintended consequences for the world around us; and of a journey into the past that is necessary to mend the present. It is a story of love, friendship, and heartbreak for the ages.

Not for me
Revisado: 07-24-24
I wouldn’t want to rain on the parade of anyone who enjoyed this however I found it rather pointless. I’m almost convinced the point of this novel is its pointlessness.
The reader has a fine level, expressive voice, although he doesn’t get to use any inflections as the book is monotone in its story and thus is red such.
Honestly, I think it’d be a great book to fall asleep to

Perfect Record
Revisado: 01-12-24
Up till this point, and including this book, the series has been batting a perfect record. It is entertaining, thrilling, suspenseful, you think of more descriptive words, and it’s that too. It is a rare series that can be on itsfifth book and maintain the high-level of Creativity that this does. I truly believe this book should be mentioned with the likes of The Hitchhikers Guide series.

Each is more purrrfect than the last
Revisado: 12-12-23
When people say there’s no such thing as a perfect something, it’s because they have not listen to the audiobook of this series. It is expertly written in a way that Douglas Adams, Terry Pratcher, or Neil Gaiman would all find similar to their own work, but fresh and unique. And then the voice acting is equally as good and breathes life into it in a way that I am so happy that I experienced it.

One bubble. Four castles. Fifteen days. Capture each one, and the stairwell is unlocked. Here's the thing. It's never easy. Carl and his team can't go it alone. Not this time. They must rely on the help of the low-level, I-can't-believe-these-idiots-are-still-alive crawlers trapped in the bubble with them. But can they be trusted?

Historia
In a powerfully intimate and non-traditional (or "new-fashioned") memoir, Kwame Alexander shares snapshots of a man learning how to love. He takes us through stories of his parents: from being awkward newlyweds in the sticky Chicago summer of 1967, to the sometimes-confusing ways they showed their love to each other, and for him. He explores his own relationships—his difficulties as a newly wedded, 22-year-old father, and the precariousness of his early marriage working in a jazz club with his second wife.

Total disaster
Revisado: 03-20-23
The world itself is somewhat interesting, until the last 4 hours attempts to over explain its place in our own, and that is it sole star.
The story jumps around is messy. The story starts well enough, despite the weird plot device that these are hidden manuscripts uncovered around the time of WW2.
Total skip it.
