Definitely worth it
Revisado: 01-21-21
It's pretty rare that I get to a suspense/thriller that truly keeps surprising me. This one did it. Highly recommend. My ONLY slight complain would be that some of the voices done on the audio were a little distracting, but that's pretty much always the case with audiobooks, imo. I'm looking for the next book immediately.

Of course, George and Harold can’t resist making fun of the Professor’s silly name. Everything you'd hope
Revisado: 02-27-20
I got this for my kid, so we'd have something we could listen to together on car rides. She's 7 and loves all things silly and ridiculous. This story is everything you'd expect from a story called Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants. It's gross, and silly, and hilarious. Plus, the narration was really fantastic.
Definitely recommend for anyone with silly kiddos.

Historia
A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. He is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock. Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie - magical, comforting, wise beyond her years - promised to protect him, no matter what.

Cannot say enough good things.
Revisado: 02-27-20
This story was unique and captivating. There were parts that broke my heart, parts that creeped me out, and parts that left me speechless. On top of that, the fact that Neil Gaiman narrates his own story is a gift that the world does not deserve.
This story was mentioned to me by a co-worker as one of her favorites, and I am so glad I decided to listen.
Highly recommend!

I didn't hate it...
Revisado: 02-27-20
Let me be clear. I didn't hate it. But, the two star rating clearly says "It's okay," and that's really how I felt about this. The story was interesting enough. It was pretty original, I thought, and I was at least invested enough to finish it. I did, however, have to push through the end because I was ready in the last couple hours to just be done. The narrator was definitely not my favorite. Her actual speaking voice is lovely, but some of the voices throughout made it genuinely hard to listen to.
My recommendation? Unless you LOVE this genre or this author, or if you're just a junkie who can't find enough books to fill your day.... take a pass on this one. Or, if nothing else, read it rather than listen.
