Historia
Nancy Kranich (played by Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne of Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black) is a night nurse on an orbiting space station. But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. But when Nancy gets caught up in an outer-space conspiracy involving President Kennedy, former vice-president Richard Nixon, and an intergalactic object that could change the course of history, she gets way more adventure than she bargained for.

Nurse Nancy and One Eyed Jack
Revisado: 02-09-25
A funny and fabulous listen of an alternate history where cigarettes are not cigarettes, Shakey's pizza is still around and Richard Nixon doesn't get a chance to claim he is not a crook. The Dolby Atmos editing is great with 360 degree sound of the highest quality. Cudos to the foley artists and their reditions of space station alerts, ambient background conversations and Nancy's hot temper.

When you're cooking, you're a chemist! Every time you follow or modify a recipe you are experimenting with acids and bases, emulsions and suspensions, gels and foams. In your kitchen you denature proteins, crystallize compounds, react enzymes with substrates, and nurture desired microbial life while suppressing harmful microbes. And unlike in a laboratory, you can eat your experiments to verify your hypotheses.

Too many complex concepts and reactions to get the information without a graphic. lots of cool chemistry but it makes me think of trying to learn organic chemistry via an audiobook. Good performance, lousy medium for the content.

Gripping story
Revisado: 11-27-23
The use of a group of actors and a story that keeps you glued to your headphones makes this an absolute must listen. Filled with episodic suspense the characters take you through an investigation that leads them to corruption, misogyny, and a solution to the murder of an innocent.

Like being in a high school math class
Revisado: 05-28-22
if you're like me, and you really weren't into basic math when you were young, and you sat there staring at the second hand on the clock wishing that it would pass the hour quicker than this is a book that will put you to sleep. Tony does his usual fabulous job of presenting the material in a way that helps him in the goal.

huge update from the previous book.
Revisado: 03-13-22
Rather than just stop at horrible behavior of farmers, this work actually investigates the social services that helped out the workers. It also gave a side to the farmers. I especially enjoyed listening to the work of Mr Stark. All in all, a good read. The performance was nice and the story -- scary but enlightening.

Historia
A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation of Daphne du Maurier's classic tale of horror. In her story, the birds become hostile after a harsh winter with little food. First the seagulls, then birds of prey, and finally even small birds all turn against mankind. The nightmarish vision appealed to Alfred Hitchcock, who turned it into the celebrated film.

Not like the movie
Revisado: 12-14-21
It starts out well and builds the characters. Then it builds suspense as you fear for the family. However, it ends with no conclusion. It is though there must be a second episode somewhere. The acting and sound were fabulous. Stereo headphones really made a difference.

Revisado: 11-26-21
I love the emersive sound of this book and the story and the presentation by the actors is great. But, it leaves you hanging at the end wondering what will happen next. Anyone know when we get another episode? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Fabulous stories and explanations of applied math.
Revisado: 05-24-21
Armed with my engineering math background, this was a very interesting book. Mostly because of the application of mathematics to real-life situations and how the misapplication of it can cause major issues. Also, it's interesting to see math triumph in solutions that help all of humanity.
