I switched from one audiobook that was moving too slow and started this one. There was nothing slow about this audiobook! I started listening and stayed up late, got up early eager to hear what happened next.
It’s very different from most “thrillers “ I listen to.
I highly recommend it for people with strong hearts!!!

Family Love

Although this story has some moderately graphic sexual scenes, that is in no way the the major “flavor” of the story. This story is about building relationships between a father and his young daughter, under the supervision of the little girl’s aunt/mother and the loving relationships that develop between all of them.
A very heartwarming story!

A Complex Story

After reading the synopsis of this book, it took several hours of listening before I was sure I had the right book. I did.

It turned out to be a non-stopper as complex issues of age differences and some effects of growing older, family relationships, new love and families coming to grips with a bi-racial baby.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Turning It Around

This is a story of a woman tragically betrayed and left with her young daughter and and unbelievable debts when she had thought her husband was wealthy. He wasn’t even her husband and she lost everything.
She returned to her family who her husband had isolated her from and was welcomed back with open arms.
There are many surprising twists and a budding romance when suddenly her dead “husband” comes and takes her hostage.
Can her family and friends save her?

A Cliff Hanger

From the beginning of this book to the very end I felt that I was hanging from a cliff, needing to know what would happen next. The cliffs ranged from violent murder, to sweet love of family, friends and lovers.
I will definitely listen to this one again!

The Great Alone

This is a story about the effects of suffering as a Vietnam POW and it’s a story about bringing that suffering into the harsh isolation of life in Alaska. But most of all, this is a wonderful story about people, relationships and love with some very surprising twists and turns that left my heart smiling!

Dreams of Falling

I often have difficulty in listening to audiobooks that are written as “then” and “now “ format. However, Karen White has written a book that weaves the lives of three generations into past, present and even a glimpse of future. I would truly enjoy a sequel to this book to see more of the future she left hanging!
This is a good audiobook for someone who can’t listen to a book straight through. I listened to it over a period of several days but never felt lost when I started listening again!

A Complex and Sweet Story

I knew that Barbara Kingsolver was a great story teller when I listened to “The Bean Tree” (and I’ve re-listened to that story many times)!
Animal Dreams is another story that I will listen to many times. The plot, while at first seeming disjointed, is simply a matter of the author’s gift of weaving many stories together then masterfully creating one complete story!
I enjoyed this book and recommend it highly!
