Revisado: 01-14-20
Second book in the Miss Fortune series. Develops the characters further and I can see this being a series I get into. Good story and a satisfying twist.
Performance is excellent once again.

Historia
In sports, everybody loves redemption stories, the underdog who no one believes in but through sheer hard work wins it all. But no one tells the stories of the players who work hard and don’t make it. In pro football, 53 guys get on the roster. Ten make it to the practice squad. And then there’s the 64th Man - that’s Billy Logan (Cena), who seems to always be one spot from glory.

Modern Football
Revisado: 01-10-20
A cynical look at professional football and the meat grinder that makes up the industry. From college football to the pros. Takes a swipe at fans, social media, ownership, even the medical industry. A good listen and I recommend.
Good performances, especially John Cena as the lead.

Historia
In this brilliant and original audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell explains and analyses the 'tipping point', that magic moment when ideas, trends and social behaviour cross a threshold, tip and spread like wildfire. Taking a look behind the surface of many familiar occurrences in our everyday world, Gladwell explains the fascinating social dynamics that cause rapid change.

A Few Good Examples

The delivery is a little one paced. Clearly early Gladwell on the microphone. I recommend his other performances.
Some interesting case studies and theory on social epidemics.

Historia
The routine traffic stop that ends in tragedy. The spy who spends years undetected at the highest levels of the Pentagon. The false conviction of Amanda Knox. Why do we so often get other people wrong? Why is it so hard to detect a lie, read a face or judge a stranger's motives? Through a series of encounters and misunderstandings - from history, psychology and infamous legal cases - Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual adventure into the darker side of human nature, where strangers are never simple and misreading them can have disastrous consequences.

As usual a well researched book from Gladwell. The world is not a simple place. Our interactions with strangers don't follow a standard script.
Loved the new style of audio book. Where possible, quotes from the book are the actual recordings from the people who spoke them.

Historia
Australia is a proud country full of proud people, but exactly what are we proud of? Comedian and history buff Ben Pobjie delves deep into Australia's past and has a good old rummage amongst the nation's personal effects. With wit, perspicacity and a healthily elastic attitude to historical accuracy, the great saga of Australia is unravelled like an old woolly jumper. For anyone who snoozed through history class at school, this is the book to get you all caught up.

Hilarious history of Australia
Revisado: 11-21-19
One of the funniest books I've listened to. Highlights some of the atrocities of the past and gives a decent overview of how this nation got to where it is now.
Narration is very good if bordering on racist. Was Paul Keating really that Italian?
Literally a joke at the end of every sentence takes some getting used to. But highly recommended.

Historia
The definitive biography of a legendary athlete. The Shrug. The Shot. The Flu Game. When most people think of him, they think of his beautiful shots with the game on the line, his body totally in sync with the ball - hitting nothing but net. But for all his greatness, this scion of a complex family from North Carolina's Coastal Plain has a darker side: He's a ruthless competitor and a lover of high stakes. There's never been a biography that encompassed the dual nature of his character and looked so deeply at Jordan on and off the court - until now.

Comprehensive But I Want More
Revisado: 11-08-19
A full history of nearly every aspect of Michael Jordan's life. I wish the circumstances surrounding his first retirement were explored more. It's my only real criticism of the content. The story flowed pretty much in chronological order and was well paced for such a long book.
Performance only dinged slightly for some basketball player name pronunciations.
Still well worth the time investment.

Jalen Rose has never been quiet. Not as a kid growing up in Detroit in the '70s and '80s. Not as the brash, trash-talking leader of the legendary "Fab Five" at the University of Michigan. Not as the player under the stewardship of Hall of Famers Larry Bird, Isiah Thomas, and others throughout his 13-year NBA career. And certainly not as a commentator and analyst on ABC/ESPN and Grantland.

Didn't Hook Me
Revisado: 06-30-19
Took me a long time to get through this one. The information is sound. It's just a little dry. Any humour doesn't really come across through the delivery. Three great coaches who deserved to have their stories told. At times their methods kept me in. But overall just okay.

Historia
Goose Island opened as a family-owned Chicago brewpub in the late 1980s, and it soon became one of the most inventive breweries in the world. In the golden age of light and cheap beers, John Hall and his son Greg brought European flavors to America. With distribution in two dozen states, two brewpubs and status as one of the twenty biggest breweries in the United States, Goose Island became an American success story and was a champion of craft beer. Then, on March 28, 2011, the Halls sold the brewery to Anheuser-Busch InBev, maker of Budweiser, the least craft-like beer imaginable.
