Historia
When former soldier Everett Cole signed on to help colony planets prepare for joining the Federation, his employers were disconcertingly vague about their identity and his duties. Yet, the pay was good, and it got him off Earth and on the way to a fresh start. More reservations arose when, 11 light-years from Earth, he met his partner, Edgar Millen, an enigmatic man with a penchant for violent solutions and a fetish for the mythology and language of the American Wild West.

Fun revamp of classic western storytelling.
Revisado: 02-08-25
This was a fun revamp of classic western storytelling and it knows it! It's interesting that the story pokes fun at itself for being campy, and in doing so makes it not campy. The narration was good, well paced, and expressive. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Old premise with great world building, believable characters.
Revisado: 12-31-24
Narrator is good, there's some odd pauses that make me wonder if it's an editing thing or artistic choice, but again, good narrator. The story premise is not unique, but the character development and world building are. I'm enjoying this authors ideas and implementation. Looking forward to the next book.

He must lead the Champions of the gods, his other friends, and the free peoples of Jorath in an assault on the Obsidian Fortress. Yet the Adversary is intent on foiling his archenemies' plan before they reach his hordes lurking behind the compound walls. The Dark god's scheme is to spring the trap that was set centuries earlier in preparation for just such an event.

World and Character Building Legend
Revisado: 12-27-24
This series is absolutely on the level of Lord of the Rings and the Wheel of Time! The world and character building are amazing! Believable human struggles amidst fantastical ideas bring this series into a realm of truth and escapism I have rarely found. While mildly taken aback by the change of narrator for one book, the narrations through all of the books is top-notch.

Historia
Ahren and his companions journey on to Evergreen, finding new courage after the traumas of the Green Sea. Setting off, then, to traverse the continent in search of the missing Paladin Yollock, it isn't long before they find themselves sucked into a maelstrom of adventures involving a woman who has been robbed, a desperate Cape Verstaad grandee, not to mention a cutthroat city which proves itself a veritable nest of ne'er-do-wells. Controlled by the brilliant assassin Reik Silvermantle, this hub of lawlessness and immorality presents Ahren and his friends with one of their greatest challenges.

Be Fair to the Narrator!
Revisado: 12-16-24
Unlike a lot of the reviews I read for this book in the series, I must be fair to the narrator. I believe that if the series had started out with this narrator people would be perfectly happy as he did a great job. Truly, it was off-putting to have the narrator change in the middle of a series when the previous narrator was excellent, however the story being written so well and the narrator being good at his craft did not take away from my enjoyment of this book. I will be seeking out books being performed by this narrator as soon as I complete this series.

Historia
Captain Jackson Wolfe never thought he'd see the end of the Phage War in his lifetime. The enemy was too powerful, too numerous, and utterly determined to exterminate humanity. But the appearance of a new ally in the fight has changed all of that. For the first time since the original incursion, Wolfe thinks that maybe there's a chance to stop their implacable enemy before they have the chance to wipe out any more human planets.

Great ending to the trilogy, with an opening for further tales but not required. As usual and without fail, Mark Boyette brings the story alive.

Historia
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Fast Paced Attention to Detail!
Revisado: 10-01-24
Let's start with the narration, top-notch!
The storyline is futuristic without being fantastic, and the author paid very strict attention to detail in the operation and function of not only the equipment but the characters as well.
Looking forward to the next book, which I am purchasing as soon as I hit submit on this review. :-)

Historia
As if nearly burning up in a freak accident on her way to Earth wasn't bad enough, Daisy had a whole mess of other trouble on her plate. Big trouble. And she was going to get to the bottom of it if it was the last thing she'd do, which it was starting to look like it very well might be. The thing is, Daisy had a simple rule for space travel. Don't blow up, and so far she'd been managing to abide by that, but mere survival wasn't enough.

Simple, Fun, Soft Sci-fi
Revisado: 09-29-24
I think the authors intent was leaning toward hard sci-fi, however it never quite got there. The characters were reasonably well developed, plotline had a few small holes, but overall a fun and enjoyable listen. a great portion of the dialogue was chit chat but very believable as such, unfortunately I felt it made the story drag a bit. The different premise and ideas explored in the books were interesting and could have been plumbed much deeper.
The performer was pretty good, ideas about dialects/accents/alien tongue we're interesting.
I would recommend this title to those who enjoy soft science fiction centered on interpersonal relationships.

Historia
A century from now, thanks to a technology allowing instantaneous travel across light-years, humanity has solved its energy shortages, cleaned up the environment, and created far-flung colony worlds. The keys to this empire belong to the powerful North family - composed of successive generations of clones. Yet these clones are not identical. For one thing, genetic errors have crept in with each generation. For another, the original three clone "brothers" have gone their separate ways, and the branches of the family are now friendly rivals more than allies. Or maybe not so friendly....

Amazing Presentation
Revisado: 04-27-24
I normally abhor the changing of a narrator in a series of books, I feel it is akin to changing an actor in a series of movies or a television show and the producers want the audience to believe it's the same character but how could it be. This is a rare exception, as each narrator was splendid, and never caused me to lose the feeling of the characters. I feel like no matter your opinion of the controversies surrounding the ideas that the author may or may not have been trying to portray, the spirit and fun of the stories themselves come shining through in these audio adaptations.

Could be a good story, except for the narration.
Revisado: 04-11-24
Just my opinion, but the narrator lacked conviction or significant emotion. His tone was morose and brought the characters across as very androgynous. I only got a few chapters into it before I just couldn't take his voice anymore.
