"Every attempt to help people must first begin with an effort to understand people," says Dr. Larry Crabb. "And the only fully reliable source of information on that topic is the Bible." In this Gold Medallion Award-winning classic, Dr. Crabb affirms the power of the Scriptures to address the intricacies and deep needs of the human heart. Exploring the inseparable link between spiritual and psychological realities, Understanding People offers a vital lens on how we're put together - who we really are and what makes us tick in our relationships.

Wish every pastor read this book!
Revisado: 10-06-23
Larry Crabb revealed amazing truths lovingly and biblically. I pray pastors and specifically professors of spiritual growth in Seminars can read at least the last chapter. And intrigued by it, read all the author’s books. Really.
We need vulnerability and confession in our prayer gatherings.

A must listen!
Revisado: 09-09-23
This book is for anyone: Christians who feel the need to fight for truthful love, or the complacent ones (it will shake you!); non-Christians or atheists who think (sometimes rightfully so) that we are a religion of racist bigots; and, finally, all those who enjoy a well-written book with a purpose.
Thank you, Dr. McLaughlin! This book is an answer to my prayers!

Outstanding book: Carefully historic, deeply doctrinal!
Revisado: 09-07-23
Listening to this audiobook book gave me an even greater sense of who Tim Keller was. I have heard and re-heard all available sermons on the Gospel in Life podcast and read nearly all of his books. Although most highlighted message points were familiar, the unknown facts about Keller’s family and history added a lot. The author has magisterially woven all facts and notes into Tim’s theology. Also, there’s nothing mawkish about his life. Tim is not presented with an aura of holiness as some biographers tend to paint the object of their research. One cannot avoid the sense of being taught by Timothy Keller himself. And it is all clearly made to glorify God,
I cannot believe I was at Beeson until last month and never met Professor Hansen! I would have been bugging him to let me help in anything I could on this project.
Nevertheless, the surprise of this great book was certainly something God prepared for me.
The bonus sermons at the end are the cherry on top of this fabulous dessert. No spoiler alert here. Please check them!

Historia
In this sermon, we will look at the doctrine of predestination, or election — the idea that we would never seek for or choose God unless first God sought for and chose us. In this passage, Jesus says that “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.” We’ll ask two questions of that statement: 1) What does Jesus mean? 2) What does it mean for us practically? This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on August 19, 2001. Series: Arguing With Jesus. Scripture: John 6:41-48. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the ...

A MUST-HEAR SEMON TO ALL!
Revisado: 11-16-22
If you are wondering if predestination is a “Godly” thing, or if you are on the other side of the spectrum, feeling you’ve attained your salvation, or if you are in any place between these two understandings, this sermon is for you.
As usual, Tim Keller will bring insights from Theologians and secular people to illustrate how important the understanding of grace is for our spiritual life.
He nailed it! Praises to God!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16. Because of its emphasis on "the Love of God" and Jesus' being the incarnation of that Love, many believe this gospel is the most important for new and old Christians alike to take to heart. Written by the "disciple whom Jesus loved", the book of John is organized around seven miracles, seven discourses and seven "I AM" statements. This study is so deep "an elephant can bathe in it, and yet an infant can wade in it."

I LOVE CHUCK MISSLER, but this particular study is too repetitive
Revisado: 06-23-22
Dr. Missler has great insights and his knowledge of jewish traditions together with his Hebrew and Greek skills always make his audiobooks a delight to those who want to know more from the Word. However, in this particular study, he repeats himself too much. There were instances I already knew the comment he would make.
Nevertheless, if you have some audiobook credits, listen to it!
There is always something to learn.

What Kind of Fool Are You?

Historia
In the book of Matthew, the account of the birth of Jesus tells us the “wise men” came to worship him. Who were the wise men? The wise men were the culturati, the cultural experts and the leading thinkers of their society. So why did they come to worship a baby? Their coming illustrates the point that God makes foolish the wisdom of this world — God’s wisdom makes the world’s wisdom bow to God. In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul asks, “Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?” When you grasp who ...

Let's all be the right kind of fool!
Revisado: 12-16-21
I have been thinking about people's reaction to events and it amazes me how many foolish ones I see nowadays. Not by coincidence (not a "kosher" word would say some rabbis), I bumped into this amazing sermon, so appropriate also for this season.
Beginning with the account of the wise men who visited Jesus at his birth, Dr Keller explains not wisdom, but its antonym - foolishness -- like I have never heard before. How astonishing is it that the King, Son-of-God-baby had to be born in a manger? So weak, so poor, so helpless!
The beautiful excerpt of literature from Flannery O'Connor was a special treat to me.
Strangely (or not), you WILL realize you are a fool, and one of the three bad kinds of fool he describes.
Without coming up with a spoiler, it is really hard to review the book. But I can certainly assure Christian parents of smaller kids: you will not regret having heard this sermon.
And for those who are not parents, as Dr. Keller says: contrary to Jesus, we are not perfect "and therefore we need parenting! We need parenting from God, we need parenting from our parents. That's the reason why we need parenting from our friends all our lives, as it were." Well, there goes a spoiler...

O leitor não respeita a pontuação (:-(
Revisado: 09-12-21
