The narrator sounded like a child and was wholly unbelievable, although what she writes is probably true. It is the whining voice. I couldn't take her writing style that close to being blah, meh, and the rest. Don't waste your time unless you can't live without gossip. Nothing intellectually challenging in the least.

Apparently there is some issue on the British Isis Company that shared the master tape with audible because the loudness/softness feature isn’t working. I had to strain to hear the story. Audible should request a new master tape from Isis or remaster the original so that it is truly audible.

A sure cure for some types of depression. When all hope is lost, this adventure will endure. When my father died in 1952, my mother read us stories of the trials young men were put through by their Native American tribesmen to signify their manhood. These stories and others similar were a miraculous message of hope through thick despair and poverty. They provided a path forward. Shackelton's story is no less.
