Historia
On August 7, 1942, two events of major military importance occurred on separate sides of the planet. In the South Pacific, the United States went on the offensive, landing the First Marine Division at Guadalcanal. In England, 12 B-17 bombers of the new Eighth Air Force’s 97th Bombardment Group bombed the Rouen–Sotteville railroad marshalling yards in France. While the mission was small, the aerial struggle that began that day would ultimately cost the United States more men killed and wounded by the end of the war in Europe than the Marines would lose in the Pacific War.

probably shouldn't be an audiobook
Revisado: 01-04-25
The author has clearly done a ton of research regarding this subject. The vast amount of information provided was hard to keep up with. In fact, it almost felt like I was listening to someone read a text book. Entertainment value is probably a 1 out of 5 on this book. If, however, you are a history buff, you will find it very interesting. I will probably pick up a hard copy of the book and reread it myself but I would not recommend it as an audio book.

Smooth Transition
Revisado: 10-12-24
Let's face it, Dewey is getting old. Unlike some of his counterparts Dewey's reality is that he DOES age and wont be the same in his 80's that he was back in his 20's. The author did a fantastic job making this story a seamless transition from Dewey to Rob while keeping the same intense pace of the story. Granted, the transition started several titles back with Dewey and Rob and shifting the focus from one to the other was perfect. I am shocked at how fast this story went for me. The new antagonist is original and provides a good base for future adventures. I am looking forward to reading more!

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality

Too painful to take seriously and finish
Revisado: 08-26-24
This is quite possibly the worst audible book I have ever downloaded. The recording sounds like the narrator (author) is sitting at a kitchen table in a large room. The content may be relevant but the author's gratuitous use of curse words is at a level that is more insulting than funny, or even appropriate. Consequently, I wasn't able to stomach it any longer and stopped listening. I knew it had the potential to be a little risqué given the title and was expecting vulgarity. this however, is on a whole new level. To me, it appears as if the author is trying too hard to be "cool" and reach a generation she perceives to have a limited vocabulary. my advice, don't waste your money or time.

Pike Logan, the whiner.
Revisado: 02-10-24
I'm a fan of this series, the Pike Logan character, his high adventures, and will continue to be. However, he has become a whiny little b%$#@ in this story. Granted, he does his fair share in the other stories as well, but in this one he just can't seem to let it go. We get it, it's "not in the charter"....move on. On brighter side, the author didn't spend as much time reviewing all of the facts like he usually does. I understand that there are certain facts that the reader needs to understand but we don't have to hear the back story every in every single book. the reader who jumps into the middle of the series needs a reason to go back and start from the beginning. Anyway, this was a good story, not one of my favorite Pike Logan stories but definitely worth the read. I'd give it a solid 4.

Historia
The war in the Russian Far East has ground to a halt. US and Japanese Marines battle for control of the Yaeyama Islands. With spring around the corner, the fear is that China has one last gambit to play, and people are wondering if NATO and Russia are ready. The Allies have 750,000 soldiers and the US Eighth Army is planning wholesale destruction through China. But time isn’t on their side. The fate of the free world rests on two fronts: the battlefields and the political minefield back home.

Fantastic!
Revisado: 03-22-23
This series has proven to be one of the best and most engaging that I have listened to on audible. I am also a fan of Mitch Rapp, The Gray Man, and Jack Reacher. those series tell a new story with each book. Each volume in the Monroe Doctrine series builds upon the last in much the same manner as The Gray Man wanders the globe. The series is not meant to be told in a single book, so don't expect it to wrap up nice and tidy at the conclusion of each book. The authors do a fantastic job getting military nomenclature correct along with many of the idiosyncrasies of military life. I won't do a summary of the book, but I will say that if you appreciate a good series similar to what I mentioned earlier, you will surely appreciate Monroe Doctrine. Start with Volume 1!
The narrator of this series is fantastic! One of the top two i have listened to on audible!

Historia
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

Great "short" story.
Revisado: 11-29-20
The narrator is the same man that does the Red Dead Redemption series of video games. Consequently my young teenage son actually listened to the entire book with me on a recent road trip. The story itself reminded me of "ghost rider" with the exception that the main character works for the good guys. The story pace is good with no over the top character development.
I chose this title as it was included with my membership and am glad I took the chance.

Historia
A toxic presidential election is underway in an America already badly weakened by internal divisions. While politicians focus entirely on maintaining their own power, ISIS kidnaps a brilliant French microbiologist and forces him to begin manufacturing anthrax. Slickly produced videos chronicling his progress and threatening an imminent attack are posted to the internet, intensifying the hysteria gripping the United States.

Pitted against the Russians are a Marine lieutenant colonel pulled out of a cushy Pentagon job, a French Special Forces captain and his intelligence operative father, a young Polish partisan fighter, an A-10 Warthog pilot, and the commander of an American tank platoon....

Revisado: 06-25-20
While the narrator is a bit of a distraction, the story itself was fantastic. It moves at a perfect pace with realistic scenarios. Once you get past the "Jack Palance cowboy" narrator's voice it is hard to stop listening.

Historia
A world has been deceived, and a war has begun.... America has been invaded and stands isolated, alone, and without allies.... Lines have been drawn; sides have been chosen - brother against sister, father against daughter, parents against their children. Battles rage from the Midwest to the Great Plains as militia factions form and political frustrations turn to violence. The UN peacekeepers are hailed as liberators in the Northeast but reviled as invaders in the Upper Midwest. Four nuclear armed powers wage war.

just keep driving...
Revisado: 03-12-20
I spend a lot of time on the road and audible makes those drives go by much faster. I have found that this series makes the drives go by too fast! I find myself wanting to keep driving so I can keep listening. The narrator is one of the best I have listened to on audible. Unfortunately, this is a book that you really have to read/listen to in order. the story itself is very plausible and it frightens me to think "what if?" I do think the author overplayed the phrase "stay frosty"! c'mon, enough already.

“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

I dont know, something about this one just felt tired. It was as if Lee Child had writers block and just threw in some leftovers, recycled a bunch of ideas and tried to think up something shocking from the.....dark web....scary right?!
