Historia
Carrie Singleton is just about done with Clover Ridge, Connecticut until she is offered a job as the head of programs and events at the spooky local library, complete with its own librarian ghost. Her first major event is a program presented by a retired homicide detective, Al Buckley, who claims he knows who murdered Laura Foster, a much-loved part-time library aide who was bludgeoned to death 15 years earlier. As he invites members of the audience to share stories about Laura, he suddenly keels over and dies.

It was ok

Narrator is great. Story is so-so. Seemed to drag along. I had a hard time finishing, but overall enjoyed the book.

As the medical examiner for the San Francisco Police Department, working alongside homicide detective Hal Harris, she uncovers the tales the dead can't tell about their final moments. It is a job that gives her purpose—and a safe haven from her former life at the hands of an abusive husband. Terrible story, awful narrator
Revisado: 01-01-19
The narration is so stilted that I had to force myself to listen to it. The story telling is sophomoric. I honestly didn't care about the main character at all by the time the story ended. I'd just as soon have had meteor destroy them all. Side plots were hinted at, but never really fleshed out. Save yourself a credit. It really isn't even worth it for free.

Historia
After being sent to the beachfront cottage on Opal Island to investigate reports of dangerous occult activity, Riley Crane wakes up with a gun under her pillow, covered in blood, and with no memory of the past three weeks. Riley is alone and without backup, feeling her way through a deadly game of blindman's buff, where no one around her is quite who or what they seem. A bizarre murder is only the first jarring reminder of how high the stakes really are.

One exceptionally annoying quirk...
Revisado: 07-02-14
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sleeping with Fear?
There weren't any that I can recall. Overall, it was just an average book.
Did Kathy Garver do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
For the most part. There were several occasions that left me a little confused because I wasn't sure which male character was talking, but overall was ok.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. I didn't find it as engaging as the previous trilogy with the male narrator. Not sure if that was a result of the storyline or the telling.
Any additional comments?
The most annoying thing about the audio book is the narrator's use of A-W-O-L instead of just saying "ay-wall" like any normal person would do. It's used quite a few times throughout the book and it just makes the narration seem stilted and unnatural. It drives me crazy.
