Historia
Diamond Head, Hawaii, 1941. Pvt. Robert E. Lee Prewitt is a champion welterweight and a fine bugler. But when he refuses to join the company's boxing team, he gets "the treatment" that may break him or kill him. First Sgt. Milton Anthony Warden knows how to soldier better than almost anyone, yet he's risking his career to have an affair with the commanding officer's wife. Both Warden and Prewitt are bound by a common bond: the Army is their heart and blood...and, possibly, their death.

Wow, this is bad
Revisado: 04-14-24
This book is so poorly written. The narration is not good, but the writing is worse.

Historia
First published in monthly parts from March 1852 to September 1853, this novel follows the fortunes of three pedestrian characters; Esther Summerson, Ada Clare, and Richard Carstone. The story they tell embondies Dickens' merciless indictment of the Court of Chancery and its bungling, morally corrupt handling of the endless case of Jarndyce v. Jarndyce, giving the novel its scope and meaning.

Great book and really nice production

Read and listen to this book. It’s Dickens at his best, and the narrator is phenomenal.

Brilliant, original
Revisado: 06-18-23
Brilliant, original, writing full of vitality ….. extremely talented author (the novel should be read as well), but the narrator does an incredible job. Well done.

Historia
In this fictionalized meditation, Bolden, an unrecorded father of Jazz, remains throughout a tantalizingly ungraspable phantom, the central mysteries of his life, his art, and his madness remaining felt but never quite pinned down. Ondaatje's prose is at times startlingly lyrical, and as he chases Bolden through documents and scenes, the novel partakes of the very best sort of modern detective novel - one where the enigma is never resolved, but allowed to manifest in its fullness.

Excellent author & narrator
Revisado: 02-28-23
To bring this short Ondaatje novel off on audio was going to take a very talented narrator, and that’s exactly what you have in Dion Graham. Well done all around.

Possessed of astonishing dramatic, emotional, and philosophical resonance, A Flag for Sunrise is a novel in the grand tradition about Americans drawn into the maelstrom of a small Central American country on the brink of revolution. From the book's inception, listeners will be seized by the dangers and nightmare suspense of life lived on the rim of a political volcano.

Well realized on audio
Revisado: 10-04-22
Stone’s a special author. That’s well-established.
But I’m always wary about listening to books that I’ve read and have really enjoyed and especially have loved and how they will translate to audio format. Stephen Lang has done a superb – – superb! – – job rendering this novel to audiobook . So much so I could not imagine it being narrated by anybody else as much as any author but Robert stone writing it. Well done.
